How Bitter Sweet It Is,
By
This review is from: Outside World (Audio CD)
Although I love all things Propaganda (OK, "1234" I only kinda liked), my favorite composition from "A Secret Wish" was, is, and always will be "Duel." So I've been waiting nearly 20 years for a CD release of the Bitter Sweet remix that I originally owned on vinyl (still own, actually, along with its two decades of hiss and pop). Now I can die happy: There's the extended intro with the buildup of instruments, then Claudia's vocal sounding clearer than ever, and finally the mournful guitar solo that takes the track out. I'm not usually nostalgic for my lost 80s youthfulness, but the first time I played it, this disk had me on my knees . . . .

dear god they were geniuses in the studio. I do not regret the expensive price of this - it is ear candy with a red bull. Just beautiful. Ah, the wonderful 80s.

I've been waiting nearly twenty years for a worthy successor to A Secret Wish - forget 1234 - and this it. Stunning collection of ubermixes from the Abba Of Acid. Can anything from the 80s - and indeed beyond - come even close to the intro of Dr Mabuse or the danceability of Jewel? Nein. Fantastically produced CD.

Enigmatic and Eerie Dance Tunes,
By Disco Buff (Tokyo, Japan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Outside World (Audio CD)
It sounded nothing but ominous and uncanny, when I, as a teenager, bought the 12'' of ''Dr. Mabuse'' attracted by its weird sleeve and listened to it at home back. But the fact is I have been possessed by its haunting melody & rhytm since then.Propaganda's success was for the most part accomplished by dint of the magical synthesizing technique of Trevor Horn, who, as the producer, also led to much success the several mid-80s groups such as Yes, ABC and Frankie Goes To Hollywood, by making their sounds intricately electric and danceable. Among these groups, Propaganda's tunes have the most spiritural and mysterious melody, from which I recall Enigma, well-known for ''Sadeness'' released in 1990. In Japan, ''Dr. Mabuse,'' once used in the TV commercial, and ''P. Machinery,'' having caught on about 15 years ago especially as a dance hit, are most popular like in many other countries. In this CD, included are the two representative long versions each of these tunes. If you would like to enjoy a bit eccentric but profound 80s dance ele-pop, this album should deserve to join your collection.

""DON'T BE A FOOL"": Buy this record!!!,

THIS IS IT!!! The ultimate Propaganda. Everything's here. All the remixes and 12 inches that were missing on the remastered versions of A Secret Wish and Wishful Thinking. This completes the "hattrick" of 1985. If you were searching for the complete Propaganda sound, this album is the one for you. It's like A Secret Wish part II, with the exception that this one is twice as long as it! It has almost 78 minutes of Terror, Haunt, Sparkling Melodies, Infectious Beats and much, much, much more to explore... Claudia Brucken sounds so clear on this one (just like the remasters of the other two) and I am so happy that ZTT again has done a wonderful job (just like the last-year release of Frankie Goes To Hollywood's Twelve Inches) and even the sleeve AND sleeve-notes are a piece of wonderful art, believe me. Fron the outside, it shows what's inside! Finally this release saw the day of light in september 2002 (much too late ofcourse) and I am a fool for it from scratch!!! Can you imagine: I was searching for the 2 Dr. Mabuse 12 inches for years! Only found the regular one: The 13th Life. It's also represented on this one, TOGETHER with the "real" one: Das Testament des Dr. Mabuse (DJ promo version). Man!!! I was sooo glad!!! This is probably one of the best 12 inches of the 80's. (It's in my top 5). Enjoy this album, it's 5 double worth the money. You can listen and dance to it. In my opinion: The greatest release of 2002. Have fun and enjoy the ride of terror on this insane disc. Let your (un-)conscience be your guide.

A fantastic compilation BUT BE WARNED! The DVD is in PAL format (Europe) and while you can most likely play it on your computer, there's a strong chance that your DVD player will choke on it....

Wonderful remixes of all the hits from "A Secret Wish' and also includes the only Propaganda bonus track. The DVD is just the icing on the cake. A Must for any Claudia Brucken fan.

they didn't include the extended Femme Fatale?!? It's an elongated version of the song mixed in with [The Ninth Life of...] Dr. Mabuse. It's an awesome mix. But ah well, I still have the maxi-single. [Maxi-single... sounds fun-knee now-a-days! heehe!]

I really love this album. It's just like their Secret Wishing album, but the mixes are even more danceable... I really love every single song on this cd... If you're a Propaganda fan, this is a must-have.

one of germany,s progresive electronica groups based in mood, dance music. propanganda line-up has changed over the years, but the music has remained the center of a collected mind ready to embrace it,s hidden time changes, and melody. listening to this disc will leave you with it,s sound long after you,ve removed it from your cd player. outside world from propanganda is worth your time and money, think outside the box. thx
