BUY THIS RECORD!,

This is seriously the best record I've heard in years. You know how you buy an album and there's one or two good tracks on it, but the rest is crap? On this Kings Go Forth record, EVERY track is excellent. This goes way beyond what any of the "soul revival" groups have done. It's a total recreation, a re-making of what music should be. Not just soul / funk / dance music, but what ALL music should be: Brilliantly arranged, infectiously written, compellingly creative, and outstandingly performed. Not to be missed!

So much fun! This CD is fun, upbeat, musically interesting, and so much more. Can't stop listening to it and tapping my feet to it. Would be perfect for any party - whether an outdoor summer bbq, or an indoor cocktail party. Elements of funk, soul, ska and a few more exist throughout. Highly recommended!

Retro, so what?,
By
This review is from: Outsiders Are Back (Audio CD)
There has been a wave of retro/neo soul music of late with artists ranging from Sharon Jones, Rafael Saadiq and even Amy Winehouse, but this disk by Milwaukee's King's Go Forth, sets the new high bar for the genre. THE OUTSIDERS ARE BACK is loaded with all the ingredients that make great soul music. The first thing you notice is the outstanding lead vocals by Black Wolf. Behind his strong vocals are a backdrop of tight harmonies, surging horn lines and a dynamic rhythm section. Of course what makes this truly a great record are the songs. This sounds like a greatest hits package by an obscure, but talented lost R & B band from the late 60's, early 70's timeframe. Standouts include One day, the ska inflected 1000 SONGS, DON'T TAKE MY SHADOW and NOW WE'RE GONE. These are just the best of a excellent batch of strong songs, without a dud in the bunch. They may not be breaking new territory, but Kings Go Forth have delivered an instant classic that I'm sure convert all those that hear it to become fans.

I have to thanked Aksara Bookstore, Jakarta for letting people hear samples of their CD collections. KGF is one of avail ones, and I instantly loved it! Very familiar with late 60's funk made me fell in love with KGF. The sound is late 60's or early 70's alright, but the quality of the recording will amaze everyone who listen to this album. Highly recommended!

Pretty sure this band is great to watch live. On record they sound awesome at first until you realize the quality of the songs isn't that great. Still, if they're ever in town I'm getting a ticket.
