5.0 out of 5 stars WHOA!
Dude, get this album, it's so amazing! I can't believe that kids are actually still making good non-pretensious hardcore albums in these days of super pretensious uber(what a cool word to use when hyphenated my friends)-substianal era of music that often masquarades as deep felt and intellectual. What hurts me the most though is how many people are saying they play...

2.0 out of 5 stars Suprisingly disappointing.
Kids Like Us just didnt do it for me on their new album. Their debut cd kicked a$$. The first sounded so much like Sum 41's critically acclaimed album, 'All Killer No Filler'. The reason I got into Kids Like Us is due to the fact that my favorite band is Sum 41. KLU captured the energy, agressivenes and absolute genius of the Sum 41 sound. This album tends to lean...

Dude, get this album, it's so amazing! I can't believe that kids are actually still making good non-pretensious hardcore albums in these days of super pretensious uber(what a cool word to use when hyphenated my friends)-substianal era of music that often masquarades as deep felt and intellectual. What hurts me the most though is how many people are saying they play hardcore music, I was reading AP the other day and I almost got a bloody nose I snorted so hard, they called (oh who was it) some band like From First to Last hardcore. Um, not! I'm not a purist and I never claim to be but you just can't soil a genre's name by saying that's what you play when in fact you don't. I know, I know, "labels are for soup cans" well labels also make it a lot easier to know whither or not your going to drink poison or a soda, so if somebody tells me a band is hardcore I really don't wanna go through the guess work, so... if they bear some resemblance to Minor Threat, they are hardcore, if they don't, well then they are metalcore or emo (and most likely pretty lame). Anyways, that was a horrible tangent and I'd delete it but then this would be smaller and I'm sure most of you have stopped reading by now... but... if not well let me tell you how awesome KLU is... very! This is music with absolutley NO PRETENSION, the songs are short and fast and their is no heady concept behind this album, IMAGINE THAT! I am so sick of... AW! I just can't stop thinking about how this is the antithesis of all the lame music going around these days, not only is this good Hardcore music, but it's... pure I guess. They sing about skateboarding and a bunch of nonsense, but it's brilliant! Lars (the dude who sings) doesn't bombard us with all his petty little girl problems or stress over and over his little growing pains, no he just sounds pissed and he shows it. Lines like "tattoos of knuckles and knives but never swung your fist in an f***ing fist fight, you're wrong obviously not f***ing right"(You Know You're Life is Lame) just make this album golden (oh yeah they say the f word a lot, so if you got some beef with that, whatever, Minor Threat says the F word a lot too and that is just untouchable). Anyways, this is energetic and it's just... damn!

4.0 out of 5 stars great, July 27, 2005
This review is from: Outta Control (Audio CD)
this is a great freakin album. its hardcore, its fast, its funny, and its got plenty of breakdowns and pit-inducing riffs to satisfy just about everyone. my only complaint is that the classic KLU vocals sound too reminiscient of Donnybrook (due to him not being able to hold the mic during recording).

but besides the at times drastically different vocals, this album is very solid and the southern rock influences sound great. this is why KLU is one of my favorite bands.

KLU @$$hole ATTACK!

Mr. sum 41 needs to shut the hell up. KLU makes the best hardcore music that a pop punk band, like sum 41, will never come close to. Pick this up if you're into good raw hardcore while Sum 41 guy goes to his nickelback concert.

Hey mr. SUM 41 guy! KLU is not a nu metal band nor are they ANYTHING LIKE SUM 41! They are a hardcore band, they are not your dear sum 41 pop punk garbage, they are raw energetic hardcore in every sense of the word. Go to a sum 41 show at a huge arena then see KLU in a small venue and they will kill you with their amazing talent and incredible music! YOU ARE GARBAGE TO ME!

The reason I got into Kids Like Us is due to the fact that my favorite band is Sum 41. KLU captured the energy, agressivenes and absolute genius of the Sum 41 sound. This album tends to lean more towards the sound of bands like Trapt and 3 Days Grace. While the aforementioned bands are pretty good, I didnt exactly want to hear another Nu Metal band. Perhaps the next album will go back to that good ol' 41 sound. I'll be waiting till that day comes! Peace Out-Franky
