5.0 out of 5 stars Esmee Denters from the NL and Youtube makes her debut!!, June 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Esmee Denters was a normal young teenager from the Netherlands who moved to the USA. Soon she began posting videos of herself singing cover versions of famous songs on YouTube and became a YT favorite. She caught the attention of a producer who knew Justin Timberlake, he showed Justin her videos. They got in contact and as they say the rest is history. Esmee became the first artist signed to Justin's "Tenman" records. Esmme has a talent for songwriting and a beautiful voice. However her voice can sound strained at times and can be a little pitchy, but it is very nice non the less. Well Here it goes...
1.)Admit It- The song kicks off the album nicely and starts with a old school type horn intro. Esmee sings to guy who is clearly into her but is shy and won't "admit it" very toungue in cheek little attitude to it. Unfortunatly She sounds strained at times here though.
2.)Victim- very nice song, a little different than the rest of the songs on here.
3.)Outta Here-The first single, the song after which the album is named. Esmee sounds GREAT(IMO) on this track and lets herself really get into the song about realizing the one you love never loved you and having to get out of the relationship. Strong vocals and no strained sound.
4.)Love Dealer(ft.Justin Timberlake) Sounds silly at first and it is a little. Many songs on the album have a noticable dose of JT's Trademark swagger and tongue in cheek cheekines as Justin is the Executive Producer of the album. It's a cute little flirty song.
5.)Gravity- Not one of the best (IMO) on here but a nice if a little pitchy at times effort by Esmee.
6.)What If- Nice one but a little too (IMO) repetative and a little whiny which is not good considering Esmee's issues with sounding strained.
7.)Memories Turn To Dust- One of my favorites but really frankly for the music, melody not Esmee's vocals which (especially in the chorus) are at times painfully strained and pitchy. A shame considering how good the lyrics are, great song anyway.
8.)Getting over You-Another (IMO) filler track (a big relief there are not many at all on here. I nice surprise on a young pop/rock/r&b album) it's ok but not great.
9.)Just Can't have it- Not too bad and (IMO) better than Getting over you but still not quite there.
10.)The First Thing- At first listen it sounds like something on JOJO's "The High Road Album" (not to mention Jojo and Esmee have similar sounds/voices) but it's still alright nice vocals.
11.)Cassanova(FT.Justin Timberlake)-This song is another one of my favorites on the album. It starts with a computer like horn effect and has a nice Timbaland like beat to it. Esmee sounds great and even pitched on it plus Justin throws it a cute little touch by playing big brother to Esmee's little sister (she is about 9 years younger than him. And warns Esmee of her cheating "Cassanova" boyfriend, he
says "You need to listen to your big brother, I'm just trying to look out for ya'" "He's been running around on ya like some cassanova lover at the expense of your heart" awww lol
12.)Bigger Than The World- This is the classic debut album, got a big record deal I've made it moment on the album lol. However it is done it the right way (IMO)Esmee talks about just being a girl trying to make it in this world but right now she feels "bigger than the world" and also a nice little bridge section where she talks about more things she feels bigger than, it is my fav section of the song with it's great harmony.
13.)Sad Symphony- One of the gems (IMO) and my favs on here. Esmee really does a great job connecting with the song and keeping on pitch. This heartbreaker compares her broken heart to music played by a sad symphony. Justin has a little speaking cameo in the chorus. Very nice addition to the record.
14.)Follow My Lead-(Ft.Justin Timberlake)The album closes out (IMO) better than it started. With Esmee and Justin doing they're darndest to make us wonder why they wern't at the 2010 World Cup concert with this song about making your mark on a big stage and taking your shot. With the somewhat African style percussian drums/bongos and Justin naming cities and countries to get up and dance. it is a very festive and nice way to end a very nice record. Esmee is a little pitchy/strained at times but the song works and fits well. All in all if you are a fan of Justin/Timbaland and pop/rockish/r&b this is for you and I think you will love it. Just listen for youself and don't let what haters who clearly don't like pop have to say. Just give it and Esmme a chance and you just might be pleasantly suprised.

4.0 out of 5 stars must have for Justin Timberlake completists...written, produced, and co-starring, March 8, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Being from the U.S., I had no idea who Esmee Denters was until a dance remix of one of her tracks appeared on a dance compilation I have--and I noticed Justin Timberlake's name on the credits. So I did some research, and found this album.

As others have pointed out, this is pure pop. Most notable is the fact that Justin Timberlake wrote and produced a majority of the album, including the bonus tracks on this 14 track edition. Also, despite being listed as the duet artist on only ONE track, Justin's vocals are predominantly featured on no less than SEVEN of the tracks: Love Dealer, Gravity, Getting Over You, Sad Symphony, The First Thing, Casanova, and Follow My Lead.

I'm rather surprised at how low-key this is for a Timberlake production. Sure, there are hints of his sounds with Timbaland from his last album, but this really is a pure pop album with very little edge to it. It's easy to listen to, but there are just not many tracks I would fall in love with or want to hear numerous times, so I can see why there isn't any crossover appeal for U.S. radio.

It took a very long time to get this cd by Esmee Denters.
I know it was not your fault due to large demands. I am happy that you stayed with the order and eventually filled it.
The premier CD by an up-and-coming star was awesome.
Well worth the wait.

Thanks again for for your tenacity in filling this order.
