Format: Audio CD
Nancy Wilson stayed close to Jazz stylings early to mid-sixties but quickly started expanding her musical horizons, contemporary soul chart hit "Piece Of Mind" took this great singer in a new direction to the dismay of the older conservative jazz community who would have had Nancy standing in cobwebs singing old standards, this extraordianry artist turned out to be too progressive and wildly creative to have this happen. "Easy" is a great mix of quiet-storm type songs, then in 1970 Nancy made a truly classic album with Philly Soul masters Gamble & Huff, instant classic "Now I'm A Woman" contains one of the greatest ever Beatle cover songs, "The Long And Winding Road" a completely masterful performance making price of this remarkable collection alone worth obtaining...listener will go down "The Long And Winding Road" in a way never experienced before or since, this phenomenal performance is a stunner! Sadly even being a true masterpiece "Now I'm A Woman" brilliantly produced by legendary Gamble & Huff team has yet to see light of day on Compact Disc making one wonder what is wrong with Capitol Records not releasing this tour-de-force collection of magnificent performances along with other extraordinary late sixties through seventies stellar collections...another brilliant seventies classic not on Compact Disc represented in this collection is Marvin Gaye "Come Get To This" classic, Nancy turns this soulful gem inside out with her seductive performance priceless and one that Marvin must have been thrilled with it! Nancy is hypnotic with great version of Paul Mc Cartney's "My Love" being a hard one to top.Read more ›

Dionne, Diana, and Aretha can do it better. Nancy Wilson takes her turn singing covers from the 60s and 70s. But unlike those pop divas, Wilson creates much noise without much feeling. She wails loudy on numerous selections as she attempts to emote love lost. It's clear halfway through this disc that Wilson is more comfortable with her jazz influenced roots than getting down doing Spinning Wheel. She does offer a nice take on Sunny, but it's one good selection out of 20. Even her Dusty Springfield covers, make you pine for the real thing.
