The record starts strong with a drum heavy version of "Deal" and the Peter Rowan penned "Mississippi Moon". Rowan played in Jerry's excellent but short lived bluegrass band "Old And In The Way". He is perhaps best known for "Panama Red". But I've found several of Rowan's other songs impressive as well.

Allen Touissant's "Take A Melody" is a highlight as is "Sisters and Brothers". The latter being a gospel tune that turns into a sort of hippie anthem when played by Garcia and the band. "Hully Gully" is rockin' and bluesy, with some side chatter that gives a brief insight into the creative process.

It is mostly cover songs and not what I would call essential Garcia. But nearly every track is worth listening to and the whole thing is just a helluva lot fun to boot.

Good compilation by David Gans and others. Good tracks all around. Is basically like an expanded version of the Bonus tracks (different material) captured on the remasters done in 2004-ish...which are EXCELLENT by and large. These Bonus tracks make every Garcia solo album a winner, some are beyong good! While I would get Reflections and probably Cats and Garcia '72 before this, this is a great compilation. Well Done guys! and THANKS!
