3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed by the controls and small areans...
First let me say that OutTrigger is a fun game if you like multi-player battles. Its a multi-player game ONLY. I say that because the single player missions are NON-existant. You are given a number of annoying tasks to accomplish and they mostly suck. The single player modes are basically training for Online or multi-player battles.

What saves this game is 1) the cool...

This game has been enjoyed by all my friends. So i'm gonna say what i think about this game. GRAPHICS: The graphics are incredible. Harnessing the dreamcasts power to battle reality. A fast paced game that never slows down (it hardly ever overloads and processes slowly). CONTROL: This games control is a little bit hard with just a controler but you'll get used to it if go through the training levels (by the way there are different controler settings). Or you could spend another ($) on a mouse and keyboard, your choice. People say it's so hard with a controler, but honestly it's not. GAMEPLAY: This game was developed off of the arcade version. So any of you who say the storyline stinks, you tell me what advendture arcade game that has an rpg storyplot. Anyways this game was designed for multiplayer status. You can upgrade characters and weapons through the "mission" mode, and you can create a specialized character, so the replay value is very high. I'd recomend this game for people who have enjoyed FPS from the N64, and to people who have younger syblings and lots of freinds so you can beat the tar out of them when they're being anoying (on the video game of course). Or to people who want a great game. MUSIC: OUTTRIGGER's music is nothing to brag about so don't set yourself up for great music. And that about wraps it up for the game Outtrigger. Overall it's a game not worth missing if youi like FPS (first person shooters). For the parents, it's not a "lood and guts flying every game" more like electronic explosion and lasers. So don't worry about being to gorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outtrigger, December 29, 2001

I just bought this game and its the most fun I ever had with a game. I haven't even played 1p yet. when I first heard of Outtrigger and that it was a fps i assumed it would be something like unreal or another game with a lot of ugly people covered in dirt and rusty armor. I was pleasently surprised to see the characters resemble anime characters. I love how even the basic guns make huge explosions. mplayer w/ four players is NUTS! theres not a second of free time.
ps. i am not much of a gamer so if u are really into games maybe u should read some other reviews too

5.0 out of 5 stars This game rocks!, July 29, 2001

This is definately the best fps I've played, since Perfect Dark for n64. I love fps' but some just fallout regardless of their hype. This was not one of those games. When I first played i was awed by the futuristic feel of the game as well as the classic, never boring rocket launchers and guns that just blow stuff up. Most fps' have only 1st person views wich some people feel is awkward especially if one of your opponents is behind you while another is in front. The game accomodates for all video game players. The 4 player mode with internet capability makes this game fun. And the 40 single player missions make this game challenging and sometimes addictive. In my opinion this game is definately worthy of the title of this review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Alternative to Quake 3, June 12, 2004

This game is pretty good. The contols are good if you put it on D1, and the weapons are good too, exept that there are a million rocket-launcher all of which are the same. The game runs very well on the Dreamcast, Nice and fast. There are no blood or guts in it so younger kids can play without their parents objecting. But the one major drawback is that the Arenas are tiny. Some of the arenas are fun but their all just to small! The missions are dumb but who care? All the fun in a game is blowing up your brothers! Overall this is a solid game that is downright fun to play.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed by the controls and small areans..., June 8, 2004

What saves this game is 1) the cool graphics 2) the multi-player. Although the multi-player games are FUN it is sort of hampered by the small size of the areas. Don't look for a Rainbow Six: Rogue Spear maps or a Quake maps...these are small. If those two games have maps the size of a city block then this game has the maps of the size of two houses (if so big). The option to play a multi-player battle with 3cpu opponents is a nice option but can't compare to the real thing with your friends.

The arcade feel of the game makes it easy to pick up and play but even that is hindered by the bad control presets. The best option is D1 but even that is sort of awkard. People recommend the mouse and keyboard but since I don't have a mouse I can't comment on that type of control.

Overall the game is worthy of any Dreamcast collection because of the fun multi-player mode ONLY.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is the worst shooting game I have ever played., December 15, 2001

This is not an exiting action game with tons of unique missions and an interestiong story. This game has no story and the missons are boring (...). An example of a mission is you have 1:00 to kill ten bad-guys. You can only pick up one gun at a time. When you pick up a new gun you automatically drop your old one. Thier are only 5 kinds of guns in the game. The graphic look like a cartoon and when someone is shot they just flash and dissapear.
The game is short and easy and will take about 45 minutes to beat. It has 40 levles but most levles have 20 second time limits and no levles give you more than a minute to beate it. This is an aweful game dont even ret it

4.0 out of 5 stars This game has everything if you unlock it., November 12, 2001

This game has everything if you can play it long enough to unlock the cool stuff. There are a million control configurations but the only one that makes sense is "D1" (quake style). There are about 5 excellent arenas for multiplay and each one is available in dark or light modes and then there are tons of other arenas that you are trained in that you can choose to play in but they are very small. About 25 total arenas. This game intoduces 5 great ideas to the FPS game. 1 is the thermo goggles. You can see through walls in the day and you can see into dark places at night. 2 Another great idea is that there is a weapon which you can use that will fire fake powerups for the other players to grab, they are really bombs. 3 there is waist-high water in some levels and you have to wade through it in order to cross to other sides of the arenas or to get powerups. 4 The single player missions are many and they actually train you to use every weapon and get familiar with every arena. Many times you stick to your favorite weapons and arenas without beig forced to learn others. 5 There is also a character edit feature where you can name and stock your character with whatever weapons you want and then play against them. There are a million weapons to unlock including about 8 different kinds of rocket launchers, grenades, grenade launchers, sticky bombs, motion sensor bombs, uzis, clubs, and some alien weapons too. I rocommend making your own characters to play against if you are playing by yourself, and wait until you have unlocked everyone to do it. The frame rate is a solid 60fps and doesn't slow down even when you play split screen. This game breathed new life into my dreamcast. Sometimes the game gets so intense and graphically complex that you feel like you should be confused as to what's going on but you don't because the frame rate is so excellent. Also the sound, while not incredible, is very smart. There are times when you have died and are ready to come back into the game and you can tell what is going on just by the sound. Oh and if you are looking for a game with less violence, this is it. Nothing offensive for little kids. I was bored with Quake and UT after playing once through on single mode and split screen (disappoints) on both. Outtrigger has such intense action, cool ideas, and great graphics/frame rate that I actually play it more than the other 2. If you like multiplayer games, this one excells at four player split screen. If this game had more full size arenas, I would give it five stars easy.

3.0 out of 5 stars good, September 22, 2001

Outrigger's like Quake dummied down for the arcade it's got many of the thrills offered by your average first person shooter.{fps},just simplified. As a single player experience i had fun with the challenges in mission mode, and there are a few other cool surprises{ricocheting shots and the ability to see through walls in particular},but the gameplay and especially the tiny levels are so straightforward i grew tired of them after a few hours. If you're looking for a split screen or online deathmatch DC game,Outrigger is a distant third in my book{behind Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament},but that doesn't mean it's bad, just for more casual FPS fans.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's GREAT --- if you don't have the wrong expectations, June 26, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Outtrigger (Video Game)
Outtrigger is not like Unreal Tournament or Quake 3, so don't expect it to. Its arenas are much smaller. Action is faster, more arcade-like. Graphics and sounds are great. It is very fun, especially with the online mode. Just don't expect it to be "like the others".

2.0 out of 5 stars I was expecting something a lot better., April 4, 2002
This review is from: Outtrigger (Video Game)
Well, let me just tell you what I think. The game is garbage.

When I first put the game in the console, I got so excited that I was going to play a fps for dreamcast. When the game started, I chose to go with the training missions first. But later, I began to get a little upset because they were incredibly easy. 15 minutes later, I chose to go with the regular combat missions. But what really blew my top was that the combat missions were just like the training missions. The first mission objective was to collect three coins.....the coins were in a straight line right in front of you. I didnt fire one bullet.
The day after I bought it with my hard earned dollars, I wanted to return it, but I could't because I broke the seal. DAMN!!!

Over all, I give Outtrigger a two star rating because of the multiplayer option, however, you only can carry three weapons and you die incredibly fast, bairly giving you any action or reaction time. Its almost like a one hit kill game. (Don't try to run from a guy with a flamethrower.)
Also, the arenas are so small, you can't hide or even think about what to plan against an opponent.

Don't make the same mistake I did and buy the game just by looking at screenshots.
