Extend a seat, not for every dog or car,

I just received my extend-a-seat & was eager to try it out. I have a 120lb Mastiff & take him everywhere with me, so I was looking for soemthing to make his travels in my coupe car more comfy for him.
I saw other inflatable seats but went with this choice strictly because of thr lower price (the inflatable ones are about $70 opposed to this $30 one). I tested it out on a quick trip to the post office, here's what I found. Pro's: -Installation was VERY easy -seems like a durable fabric -price is right Con's: -difficult to maneuver around if you own a 2 door car -did not hold my dogs weight at all, took less than 5 mins for him to crash thru this product I would only recommend this product for a 4 door car & a dog that weighs less than 50lbs, the pic of the lab on this is very deceiving. I will be trying the more expensive inflatable seat extender, shortly so wait for a review on that, too!

In less than a week my Labrador ended up breaking one of the cheap thin panels. Great concept. It needs higher quality, more durable, stronger panels. Stop the deceptive advertising showing a big Labrador dog on the panel.

Purchased 2 of these, intending to use 1 in each vehicle, but ended up using both together for extra reinforcement due to weight of dogs. Surface fabric was very slippery, but this was overcome by throwing a blanket over the pads, which we use for the dogs anyway.
Just returned from a 4 hour, one-way camping trip and the pads were great for adding extra space for our 2 labs. Plus, it gave them a wider area for jumping up into the seat.

I was a little skeptical that this would work as advertised, but it works just like they said it would! I would recommend it to anyone needing to fill the space between back seat and front.

My dog is a 65lb lab/chessie mix. I keep her belted in the car (using a harness and zipline) but she would still slide off the back seat of my SUV.
I bought the Extend-A-Seat and love it. It easily holds her wait. Much of the time, she lies on the Extend-A-Seat instead of the car seats. I've noticed some people saying it couldn't hold their dogs' weight. It took a bit of time to figure out how closely I needed to position my back seat to the front seat in order to make certain the Extend-A-Seat is stable, but I haven't had an issues. If you can move your back seat close, do that. I can't give this five stars though because: 1. The barrier is useless. My dog can just push it down. 2. It takes time to get it set up. All in all, I'm happy with the product and my dog loves having more space in the back.

I agree with the other reviewers that this is great if you have a dog that is less than, say 50 lbs or so, (or who just lays on the seat and doesn't move), and if you have four doors and don't want to move the seats (recline, reposition.) If you move the seats it might fall (and they have to be far enough back to touch the back of the seat and rest on the back seat) so you can't recline or move the seat forward or back. Other than that, it's awesome for me. I have a pack of small dogs. The "built in barrier" to keep dogs from jumping in the front, doesn't work. They just jump up on it and it slides down. So if you want a barrier, you need to by another one separately. But it works as a seat extender for small dogs.

This extend a seat works well in my Prius with the shifting weight of my five dogs moving about. I do not use the product as pictured, but have my rear seats folded forward allowing my dogs some room to move about in the hatch area of my car. I also have all of my leather seats covered in seat covers for protection and a custom made cargo liner that lines the walls and hatch/backseat area of my vehicle. I use the extend a seat under the cargo liner. I love it and would definitely recommend in a similar situation. If you don't want it to move, I would invest in velcro as well. This will not keep your pet from entering the front seats, but it would prevent your pet from getting wedged between rear seats and front seats if you had to stop quickly. I hope you enjoy many safe years of travel with you pets. Warmly

Garbage,

My 55lb lab cracked two of the three panels within two weeks of owning this product. It is cheaply made but I guess you get what you pay for. Additionally, as many others have already stated, the middle section that is supposed to block the dog from gaining access to the front seat doesn't work and the advertised image is false unless of course your dog is doing just that, sitting 85of his/her weight on your car's seat and 15on the extend a seat. Total garbage! Purchase only if you have dogs UNDER 55 pounds.

I have had this product for about 4 months now and one of the platforms (the hard piece that the dog ends up standing on) cracked in half. If I had a mastiff or any sort of large dog, I would understand. However, I have a small male Australian Shepherd. He's 45 lbs soaking wet (which happens more often than not) who could physically be described as a thin sack of bones and frisbee catching prowess. I will be contacting the company to see if they will reimburse or refund.
Until the cracking, I was fairly satisfied with the product. I couple this product with a seat cover and it is a fairly stable, clean environment for my dog who goes where I go. I wish the centerpiece was more durable as my Zuzu loves to try to climb over it, but I have worked that bit out well enough. I am more concerned about the overall product quality.

The concept is good because we were looking for something like this. I don't know that it stays in place very well; tends to slide down a little. It's made well otherwise and the straps and buckles are sturdy.
