I really enjoyed this book! Took a little while to warm up to it as I was on vacation & only reading a few pages a day, but the more I read the more I enjoyed it & kept wanting to read more each evening. Now I can't wait for the sequel!! (Or maybe a prequel too??? Author, are you listening?). I really want to know what happens next to Daniel, the Gnomon & the Dome Dwellers!!

Senator James Inhofe (not a fictional character) of Oklahoma, a pawn of oil and gas interests, calls global warming "a hoax." He and others like him are well compensated and, unconcerned about our future, are more than willing to sell out by ignoring climate change with its tornado swarms, extended droughts, rising shorelines, exhausting aquifers, ever more deadly hurricanes, and rising temperatures.

In Outworld, N. Harold Donley extrapolates the present to posit a future from which there is no escape and survivors live in artificially sustained domes. Outside, throwback remnants of humanity live like wild beasts lacking even clothing. Hunted by the dome dwellers for sport, they barely elude extinction.

Reality, however, is seldom what it appears at first glance.

Donley hurls the reader into the blast furnace and then tantalizes us with discovery behind every seared butte. The ending is unexpected, disturbing, yet surprisingly uplifting.

Is this Book Two of a trilogy? One may hope!
