I used this item for several months and got to realize that it always indicates the fertile days based solely on your cicle length. It's a lie that it measures electrolytes in your saliva to detect the fertile days.

This review is from: OvaCue Fertility Monitor and Vaginal Sensor (Baby Product)
We have been using the OvaCue with both oral and vaginal monitors and tracking software for maybe 8-9 years. We are Catholic and do natural family planning but wanted a back-up since I am getting older and anticipating menopause. We can not say enough about the benefit of this product. It is a simple tool to help determine fertility as that is what it is designed for, so if it can help you determine when you are fertile it is very helpful for avoiding pregnancy as well...

The key is to follow the directions, especially the morning saliva reading. That reading helps determine that your body is preparing to ovulate. The vaginal sensor then confirms ovulation. I don't see why anyone would not purchase both parts to the monitor, they are both necessary. There is also tracking software available that lets you upload from the handheld to the PC. A wonderful $25 option we would not do without. It is a fairly sensitive little piece of equipment. It has to be!

As far as accuracy and use:
It is nearly impossible for an electronic device to be accurate if it doesn't have data to crunch! This is actual science that doctors are very familiar with. Thus the first cycle could be inaccurate because the program is looking for a pattern of high and low to determine fertility. A few months of data and the device is VERY accurate. Using NFP I am very aware of my cycle to begin with so the OvaCue is just my double-check, but I can still say that even with occassionally irregular cycles it is still very accurate. 5.0 out of 5 stars The OvaCue is Amazing!! This product is excellent and REALLY works., December 29, 2010

Hi, I just wanted to tell anyone who is thinking of buying an OvaCue to absolutely go head and do it! This product is excellent and REALLY works. I had been trying to get pregnant with baby #2 (Daughter born in July '03) since April '05. I had tried everything...Fertility Tea, Ovulex, Vitex, etc...anything currently on the market, I had tried...But it was with the OvaCue that I finally found success...after many devestating months of not conceieving, I finally decided to rent the Cue II (an older model of the OvaCue). I had read about it on an internet forum back in April '05 and had put the info somewhere deep in the depths of my memory, assuming it would only take me a few months to get pregnant again. After using various other products for 1 year with no success, I began renting the Cue II...I loved the Cue II, and the rental program was excellant! I used it going on 4 months, charting both vaginal and oral readings and found it very simple to use.

For the first time I felt that I finally was in control. I was 30, my cycle is typically 26 days and is very regular, and I just couldn't figure out how in the world I wasn't getting pregnant...finally, I went to my annual OBGYN appt and was casually talking to my doctor about trying to conceive, and I mentioned that I was renting the Cue II and still had 2 more months before the rental period would end. At this point I was still really learning how to chart and how to read the graphs. I was perfectly happy and I sincerely felt as though the Cue II was an answer to a countless number of prayers.

My doctor suggested I 'trade up' and purchase the newer version of The Cue II, the OvaCue, that shows you via readings (words) when your most fertile time is, when you are at highest fertility, and it confirms ovulation. My doctor believed the Cue II to be an excellent product but suggested, if I could afford it, the OvaCue--It was excellent because it eliminated the human error aspect of charting, I agreed. I called Linda at Zetek and she took care of the 'trading up' procedure and only had me pay the difference for the OvaCue and within the same week I had rec'd the new monitor and it was all mine. Zetek even paid for the return of my Cue II. I had the OvaCue for aproximately two cycles before I ever really got into using it again, after so many months of trying without pregnancy, I was pretty down, but in August '06 I finally began using both the oral and vaginal sensors faithfully again, and I saw something for the first time since trying to conceive that actually gave me REAL hope...the OvaCue confirmed my ovulation on day 10 (yes, day 10...I had always just assumed it to be day 12 or 14) and it said my hightest fertility day was day 12...I about fell over.

There I was 17 months later and I was ovulating Day 10, that was just so early in my cycle, I had never even considered the possibilty that I ovulated early... But I am happy to say, that after using the OvaCue for 1 month, I became pregnant.

I can not tell you how wonderful this product is!!!! I truly belive that if I hadn't purchased the OvaCue I may still be trying to get pregnant...Seeing in actual text, actual words what is going on in your cycle is the most excellent thing about the OvaCue, there are not symbols or misleading lines, they are words, direct and to the point, and I thank Zetek for making such a great product. I have no doubt that the Cue II would have gotten me there, but I am so glad the technology got better and that the OvaCue got me there faster.

I am a success story and still can hardly believe it! I am currently using the OvaCue to help me acheive pregnancy again. My son was born in May of '07. His brother born is March '09 And we are trying for Child #4 using the OvaCue. This is my first cycle using the OvaCue again, my Cue Peak was found on Cycle Day 5 and my Max fertility Day is Day 12. It's so exciting.

And Now they have an even newer version of the OvaCue, with an actual color coded calendar to visually see your fertile days....I am thinking I just may have to 'trade up' again for the more advanced model. Their Customer Service is fantastic!

If you are teetering, let me push you a little in the right direction...I know the pain of not getting pregnant, my friends getting pregnant all around me their first month trying, I know how skeptical I was...but give OvaCue a chance and I will bet your miracle will happen before you know it!

It took me 16 months without using the OvaCue and I had no success, and it took me 1 month with the OvaCue to get pregnant...there is no better testimonial than that. And I hope for the same sucess again this time around. This product works, if used correctly with both sensors...it's a bit pricey, but well worth the cost...

My fingers are crossed that baby #4 is another girl!

This review is from: OvaCue Fertility Monitor and Vaginal Sensor (Baby Product)
I used this item for several months and got to realize that it always indicates the fertile days based solely on your cicle length. It's a lie that it measures electrolytes in your saliva to detect the fertile days.

I used this and another ovulation detector at the same time and the OvaCue kept telling me that my fertile and peak days were between day cycle 12 and 17. The other one said I was on fertile days...but not marked any peak until day 28, when it detected the ovulation day (I had irregular cicles during the last 3 months and the OvaCue always said my fertile days were from 12 to 17). Finally I got pregnant that very long cycle on day 28 or 29 (which I confirmed on day 30 with a raise in my basal temperature). Obviously, had I kept using the OvaCue I had never gotten pregnant. So, don't waste your money and invest in a serious fertility monitor (the other one I used it for only two months, the second one I got pregnant).

Thank you.

This product is very easy to use. It just takes 10 seconds for the oral sensor reading, and about 30 seconds for the vaginal sensor reading (depending on how fast you can insert the "little-finger" size sensor into the vagina).

This is a very good product. However, be careful of who you bought it from.

I bought an Ovacue with vaginal sensor from HealthCheckSystem. But, they arrived open box. These items are very personal. How can they advertise it new, but deliver it with an open box?

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant fertility monitor, brilliant service, worked fast despite my fertility problems!, December 15, 2011

Breezy (Brisbane, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: OvaCue Fertility Monitor and Vaginal Sensor (Baby Product)
I was diagnosed with low ovarian reserve and sent straight for IVF to get some embryos "in the bank" just three months before our wedding.
After the wedding, we were given a few months of trying to conceive by ourselves before the fertility specialist told us we would have to resort to IVF.

In the last couple of months before our wedding, I used charting and the OvaCue to avoid pregnancy - worked beautifully but no surprises when you're less than optimally fertile! (Please note - the OvaCue is not currently approved for contraceptive use, but since it wouldn't have been a disaster for us if I got pregnant at that stage I was happy to give it a whirl and spend the time getting used to the system. Apparently Fairhaven Health are seeking approval for contraceptive use, but the company is not making any promises at this stage.)

As you can imagine, I was highly motivated to get pregnant in the five month "window" we had before IVF!

I did lots of research and chose to do BBT charting on Fertility Friend plus use the OvaCue. I liked that the OvaCue was a one-off cost, that it was backed by clinical research, and that it was a saliva test rather than endlessly (and expensively!) peeing on sticks like you need to do with the ClearBlue Monitor.

The OvaCue complemented my BBT charting beautifully, and alerted me to unexpectedly early ovulation as well as a possible issue with low progesterone levels after ovulation. The free OvaGraph website where you track your readings was extremely helpful, and the experts on the forums were happy to interpret my chart when it wasn't straightforward.

I had one small problem with my unit (it was taking a couple of goes to turn on properly but still did the job perfectly) and found the people at Fairhaven Health incredibly helpful and responsive. They answered emails within less than 24 hours, helped me troubleshoot, sent me a new unit immediately - to Australia- when the workaround didn't fix the problem, and told me to return the defective unit whenever was convenient, rather than disrupting my charting by sending it back straightaway.

After our wedding, we immediately started trying to conceive. Despite my age (mid-thirties) and my low AMH and having an antral follicle count equivalent to a woman in her forties, I got pregnant on our second cycle of trying! The OvaCue made SUCH a difference, because, unlike BBT charting, it gives you a few days notice of when you will ovulate so you can "advance load" on the crucial three days ahead of ovulation day. ;-)

A couple of tips for anyone interested in the OvaCue:

1. Buy the vaginal sensor. It's the only thing that will definitely confirm you have ovulated, and it tells you straight away, which is much more helpful than waiting for three days of high temperatures when you're BBT charting. Once you know you've ovulated, you don't have to keep having daily sex. (Don't get me wrong, I like sex but when you're TTC you want to avoid burnout....)
2. Use the free OvaGraph website. It made a massive difference, plus there were highly experienced users to help interpret your patterns for you.
3. If you're temping as well, I found it was much better to temp vaginally, because having the thermometer in your mouth first initiates saliva flow, which distorts your OvaGraph reading, and vice versa. I found vaginal temping was more accurate in any case.

I am now five weeks pregnant, and if this pregnancy is successful I will use the OvaCue to try for our next baby, as well as avoid pregnancy when that's what we want to do.

Ova-Awesome!

I can't believe i'm actually writing this review, we are soooo excited! We'd been TTC for almost 2 years and could figure out what was going on since we had no issues having our son a few years back. I read countless articles, shed tears via message boards and went through about a million opks for what seemed like forever (especially when hounded by my family!) We saw a review of ovacue on a youtube video and then did a bunch of research online before taking the plunge. I read this in all the reviews and its funny to be saying it too but make sure you buy the vaginal sensor as that's what ultimately helped us get our BFP!!! I guess you can get by with the one sensor the unit comes with but if you don't have a perfect cycle (I don't!) then you really want the vaginal sensor too.

Using ovacue is easy and it just became habit over time. A couple of seconds in the morning to get the oral reading and then the vaginal ones i would do in the evening. Word of caution! Make sure you start using ovacue in the begining of your cycle (they recommend day 2 - 4) or else it will screw up the results. I took oral readings every day and the vaginal readings you only need to start after your period has ended. At first all the numbers seem a bit overwhelming but they have an awesome customer service team who helped me figure out what they all meant. In my first cycle using ovacue, we saw my vaginal readings drop during the second half of my cycle which they said could possibly mean low progesterone levels. So I brought all this info to my OB who ran some tests and confirmed what the ovacue had detected! My luteal phase was apparantly too short which I never would have figured out on my own. My OB never heard of the ovacue and we even pulled it up together on her computer so she could read about it! Anways, she recommended i take additional vitamin b and use progesterone cream which i did for the next cycle and, voila, we're PREGNANT! Again, this is after almost two years of trying so we couldn't be more relieved and excited.

For anyone looking to buy an ovacue i highly, highly recommend it! I guess it does cost a lot but when you add up all the opks i was buying and add in the stress factor its the best purchase we ever made. Plus you get access to their customer service department and they are great, super smart about TTC issues and very patient!Ovacue Fertility Monitor w Vaginal Sensor

This review is from: OvaCue Fertility Monitor and Vaginal Sensor (Baby Product)
My husband and I have been trying to have a baby for almost 3 years now with no success. I've tried pretty much everything in that time, ranging from temp charting to opks to acupuncture to clomid to chinese herbs. You name it, I've done it (except IVF). I tried the clearblue monitor, but it didn't work for me at all, probably because of my screwy cycles. So I finally bit the bullet and bought the ovacue after reading about it for months. It's not cheap, after all, and my husband is not all that pleased with the amount of money I've spent in this process (though he is SUPER supportive).

I bought the ovacue package that comes with the vaginal wand, because I knew that was an important piece for women with irregular cycles. Fortunately, it came arrived as my period was beginning, which meant I could start using it almost right away. (It's best to start on day 2 of your cycle.)

I found it to be very easy to use. I take my oral reading first thing in the morning, and never had any troubles there. Vaginal readings I take in the evening after work around 5pm. I did have some troubles initially figuring out how to do that in the beginning and got readings over 400 (essentially an error message), but after some dialog with the customer service at fair haven health, I got that figured out pretty quickly.

Which brings me to customer service. WOW!! They are just awesome. I got quick, complete answers to my questions by email, and great help when I called to speak with their reps, too. I used to manage a customer service department and it was just so refreshing to see a company stand behind their product so well.

When you buy the ovacue monitor, you can also chart your results online if you want at their ovagraph site (free to use). I highly recommend this!!! It's so helpful to see your results charted out, and also to have access to a whole community of ovacue users. I never participated in their message board, but I spent HOURS reading the posts of other users and looking at their charts.

In my FIRST CYCLE of using the monitor, I got my cue peak on cycle day 8 which meant that my dominant follicle had been selected and I would probably be ovulating soon. I was excited, but kind of skeptical, because I usually don't ovulate that early in my cycle, or so I thought. I carefully monitored my peak fertility days as shown on the monitor and made sure that I had intercourse on those days. Sure enough, the monitor indicated I ovulated on cycle day 13 and my vaginal readings supported that conclusion. Fast forward 3 weeks, and I'm PREGNANT!!! One cycle of using the ovacue accomplished what 3 years of other methods could not!

I'm just so happy with this product and really feel that it made the difference for me. If you're on the fence, DO IT! You won't be sorry!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worked the first month, April 24, 2011
This review is from: OvaCue Fertility Monitor and Vaginal Sensor (Baby Product)
My husband bought the ovacue for me last month and we found it to be an excellent tool. It helped me identify fertile days that regular ovulation strips did not. I believe that it helped me get pregnant this month after several months of trying because it alerted me to the most fertile day of my cycle before I ovulated. The downside is the interface is somewhat archaic and it's very easy to completely delete readings from your cycle. Just handle it with care. Thanks ovacue!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of time and money!, October 6, 2010
This review is from: OvaCue Fertility Monitor and Vaginal Sensor (Baby Product)
About three months ago, I spent $350.00 on the Ovucue digital fertility monitor and vaginal sensor. I also use the Clear Blue Easy Ovulation Predictors that detect the LH surge. Based on when my LH surge is occuring and based on my cervical mucous, the Ovucue has incorrectly predicted my most fertile day every time! In my opinion, this product is a rip-off and can work against someone who really wants to get pregnant. BUYER BEWARE!!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use but question accuracy..., November 25, 2011
This review is from: OvaCue Fertility Monitor and Vaginal Sensor (Baby Product)
I bought this in August 2011. I read reviews about it on other websites, and I was skeptical, but went ahead and purchased it anyway. The reviews were very mixed.

The product is very easy to use. This is the only reason I am giving it 2 stars.

I question the accuracy of this product. I used it for 2 full cycles (granted that's not a lot of time), and my 'peak ovulation' was way off from the predicted saliva test. I have the vaginal wand as well, and that wasn't accurate either. When you go to the Ovacue fertility charting site they give you some background information on when you are ovulating. When you get the egg-white stretchy discharge you begin ovulation. Well the egg-white stretchy discharge was never at the same time the test predicted. It was always days after. I have gotten a better ovulation reading from the LH Surge urine tests, and the ferning test. The ferning and LH surge tests are spot on for ovulation.

Also, if you don't have a regular menstrual cycle, I wouldn't recommend this. The Ovacue device has trouble with computing irregular cycles. It has been very frustrating. My husband and I were going through fertility treatment, but that gets a bit expensive, so we had to stop. I was hoping that this device would work, but it hasn't for me.

If you go to ovagraph.com, you can sign up to do the charting without purchasing a device. I use it to track my LH surge, ferning test, menstruation and what not. Since I stopped using the ovacue I don't chart that anymore. I would look around at the blogs, and decide for yourself, based on comments, if this product is worthwhile to you. Hope this helps!
