5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality
I recently bought this set and upgraded from my old oneida set that I'd had for over 10 years. I'm very happy with this "Strauss" Oneida set. The pieces are heavy weight which is a nice feel. It's definitely built to last, comes w/ a 25yr guarantee. I wanted something contemporary & simple w/ clean lines and this set was perfect. Highly recommended!

2.0 out of 5 stars looks good, feels cheap
This flatware set looks nice- true to pictues online, but the pieces are too lightweight and too small. The dessert spoon is especially small and the knife is disproportionately heavy. Just not worth about [price]/ set!

5.0 out of 5 stars classic - will stand the test of time, December 28, 2001

I bought this set just recently and absolutely love it. Not only is the quality excellent it also is a style which will not fade fast - in essence it will stand the fads that willl come and go. The silverware is elegant but yet casual at the same time. It can be used for a formal occassion or can be used daily - this is how versatile this set it. If you do chose to buy this set - you will not be dissappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Quality Flatware, August 16, 2002
This review is from: Ovations by Oneida Strauss Stainless-Steel Flatware Set, 53-Piece Service for 8 (Kitchen)
I recently received this flatware set as a wedding gift and I'm very impressed with the quality and look. When I first registered for stainless steel flatware, I chose one of the more expensive sets where each place setting needs to be bought individually. I thought the price was a little ridiculous, however I was having a hard time finding a pattern I liked and a set that had normal sized spoons and forks. I just happened to see these a few months later right before my wedding. I switched to them and took the expensive ones off of my registry. What a great decision! I got the same amount of flatware all at once since they were a fraction of the cost so one guest could buy the whole set. The flatware is a very good quality. It feels solid and the sizes are just right. While a lot of the new designer flatware has huge oversized place spoons these ones are just perfect. Also the pattern is very classic and won't go out of style over time. I would recommend this set to anyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect set for this picky shopper, June 20, 2005

I am a designer by profession, and an admitted flatware snob. There are certain pieces of flatware that I grouse about using because they simply don't feel good in my hand; either the weight is not well balanced, or the handle design doesn't agree with the shape of my hand. I took a chance ordering this set online, and I'm so pleased with the result.

This set is beautiful enough for a dinner party, yet practical enough for everyday use. The weight and proportion of each piece is perfectly balanced, and each curve is fluid and graceful. The spoons are pleasantly round and not pointy at the end. The forks have a nice width and the tines aren't overly long. The knife feels solid in your hand, and its heavyweight handle doesn't cut into your palm even under the pressure of a tough cut. I would pay a premium for this set, but was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable price. I'm ordering an extra set as a spare just in case they discontinue this pattern one day.

As others have said, the quality is excellent. I highly recommend this set!

I made more than a hundred searches on the Internet, comparing scores of sets before I chose these. I did not choose them because of the low price, but because of the beauty of the set. Unlike the customer who did not like the sizes of the pieces, I find the pieces to be perfectly proportioned.
The tablespoons in the first set that was shipped to me had what appeared to be a machine made scratch across the handles. Almost immediately after I notified them of the problem, Amazon sent me an E-mail informing me that they were shipping a replacement set. Unfortunately, the tablespoons in the replacement set had the same problem--though to a lesser degree. So I sent the tablespoons to Oneida, who sent me flawless tablespoons. I truly appreciate the terrific customer service that I received from both companies and am delighted with my Oneida Strauss flatware.

5.0 out of 5 stars Last Flatware I'll Ever Buy!, September 13, 2005

I absolutely love this set. The balance and weight of the pieces is great as are their sizes. The feel substantial in my hands and, even after 18 months of putting them in the dishwasher, they still look like new.

The clean, classic lines were exactly what I was looking for. They go with everything from the kids melamine character dishes to the best bone china.

I can easily see passing this set down to my daughter when I'm gone. I don't ever want another set of stainless!

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice large set, reasonable price, lasting quality, March 26, 2005
This review is from: Ovations by Oneida Strauss Stainless-Steel Flatware Set, 53-Piece Service for 8 (Kitchen)
I bought this set last year and remain very happy with it. I don't baby the set and I always wash it in the dishwasher and even after a year the finish is beautiful and shiny.

I like the look of the set- It has a clean modern feel but it neutral enough to go with many dinnerware sets. The spoon bowls are round (as opposed to oval shaped) and I like that very much, especially in the soup spoon. The forks have a roundish appearence - My son and his friends call them *sporks* to be funny but there is a similarity.

The handles, while having a nice weight could be a tiny bit wider. While the knife has a more hefty handle the other utensils almost seem a bit narrow for the roundness of the spoons and forks. That isnt to say they are unbalanced but they could be precieved as looking a bit unbalanced. If I were to redesign the set it would be with slightly wider handles...

As with many sets, you would probably need something along the line of steak knives for most meats. But I have found this a common thing with most sets...

That said, its quite lovely and has worn well over the year. I am very happy with the purchase and would make it again..

5.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't get crud stuck in them or fall through rack in dishwasher, December 8, 2007
This review is from: Ovations by Oneida Strauss Stainless-Steel Flatware Set, 53-Piece Service for 8 (Kitchen)
I searched and searched for a simple, sleek place setting because so many readily available in stores have tacky ornate designs that allow food crud to get stuck in their crevices. And many other setting types are two fused pieces where gunk can collect or form a weak point where they can/do break. Most importantly, I can put them in the dishwasher rack right side up or down without their falling through. They go with any dish design, too. Easy for kids to use. Very sturdy, but stylish in an oh so modern way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everyday flatware since 2000, December 8, 2010

I bought the full set for 8 with the serving utensils April 8, 2000 from Hecht's. In the years since, my dinner
forks have "gotten away". I love this flatware set. I loved this pattern out of all patterns. I am looking for
replacements dinner forks. I had no idea this is still on the market. It is still my favorite flatware and hope to
replace the missing forks. The pieces aren't too heavy, and the pattern is simple & elegant. I love it!
