Product Description

An amazing collection of over 500 assorted MTG cards that include rares, uncommons, and commons. There is a great mix of of different colors including artifacts and a wide variety of cards from different sets! The vast majority of the cards (if not all) are in English! There are no fillers like basic lands and few cards (if any) with more than four copies (the most you can have in a tournament deck). Each lot is also overpacked with bonus cards for any foreigns, extra duplicates, etc. that are included. These lots make for an ideal gift and are a fun way to get into the Magic: The Gathering card game or to add to an existing collection!

First of all let me state that I am an avid magic player who lost all my extra cards due to theft. I still only had around 9 decks left and wanted a back stock so i could make some more fun decks and not just play with the tournament killers I already had. I bought two lots of these cards, I don't know if I really have enough to make any sort of effective deck, but i can make basic ones. What I've done is document everything in each set and then combine them. This should give you an idea of what to expect if you get a lot of these.

First, it says with rares.....they pull 5 rare cards aside and put them in a plastic packet. Thats 10 rares between the two 500 (was actually a bit more than 500) card sets. Now I'm sure that alot of the "commons" they gave me are actually rare cards. Since a lot were very old. I'm a player, not a collector, but I'm sure that if you are a collector, you'll find some nice old cards.

Second, the ratio's are the ratio of single cards to duplicates. How many cards you would need to get, before you actually saw a new card.

Third, there were about 35 Circle of Protection and Rune of Protection cards in there. Since playing with them is cheesy and nobody plays with or against them these days, I kinda think those are waste of space cards. Guess i can make thm into coasters.

Ok here is the raw data.

1st Set

Artifacts - Ratio 3.59-1
Included 1 Rare
61 Total cards (lots of duplicates)
17 Different cards
Highest Duplicates: 8 (Obsianus Golem, Iron Star), 7 (Conservator)

Multi-Color - Ratio 5.33-1
16 Total Cards (Tons of duplicates)
3 Different Cards
Highest Duplicate: 8 (Wings of Hope)

Black - Ratio 2.

I'm pretty impressed, had lots of good and rare cards from various years, but it had many duplicates. I got 8 of some cards and 5 of some cards.

I received this product in the mail a couple days ago and all the cards were in excellent condition, while I had about 9 copies of a couple common cards in the box, it also came several rare/uncommon cards that were also excellent. My only complaint is that it was heavy with Red cards and weak with White cards, but overall a good buy!

I purchased this item from CATACLYSM GAMES AND COLLECTABLES, LLC. Let me start by saying that I haven't reviewed many purchases from Amazon but this one cried out for a review. I put a 5-star rating on Education purely from a MTG standpoint. The variety of cards that came in this set have a lot of varied abilities from all across Magic. Some I hadn't seen before. I MTG when Beta was first released up until about 1999. I am getting back in after many years away and a lot has changed/been added.

I am very pleased with the results. The cards came in a white cardboard card-holder that's a bit on the flimsy side but still very useable.

The seller was true to their word. 5 rares came in a little plastic sleeve. I received one mythic rare. The rares themselves were nothing too exciting, but they didn't promise that the rares would be just what I was looking for. I've been able to put one into a deck so far.

It's the rest of the cards that really make this product worth purchasing for any MTG player. I received a total of about 550 cards overall. If you're new to the game, you'll also want to purchase an assorted land pack along with this. There were NO basic lands as promised.

The set was a little heavy on black cards for my taste (220 of the 550 were black), but the other colors were split fairly evenly. Roughly 100 green, 80 white, 80 blue, and 70 red. The cards were from a wide range of sets. From Antiquities and an Arabian Knights artifact to Magic 2012. Most of the cards are not tournament legal, but if you're just playing with friends that doesn't matter. The ratio of commons to uncommons is about 2.5-1 and that's not even including the cards from sets before they marked them common/uncommon.

So, I've been playing magic for over a year now and I've bought many cards over that year to fill my collection. I've always been skeptical of these bulk sets, but I finally broke down and bought this set of 500. In my opinion, best deal I've found on the internet yet. The thing is, you must understand that every bulk set is different, so I'll give you a short list of what I received.

First off, I got a total of 5 rares in it. But what really made me happy was that I also got 10 silver-lined cards. There were a couple duplicates, but no more than 4 of a kind, in total about 8-10 cards of 3 more duplicates. The only complaint was that I received a very small amount of uncommons. Thankfully, I had hardly any of the common cards, so it all worked out. The last thing is that I noticed that about 1/3 of the bulk was either the old printing or white lined card sets. This didn't bother me because I'm a varied collector. All in all, I suggest buying this bulk, I know I will!
