5.0 out of 5 stars The Deep Well of a Man's Heart Revealed
Jared Feria takes you on a REAL journey into the heart of men that we've all needed to take for some time. I'd call it "Wild at Heart" for post-moderns, filling in gaps previously untouched with starkly honest and raw conversation about the longings and wrestlings of men. His conversation is deeply authentic, going where few men's books have gone before. Not only is it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Precurser to the event
Jared and Lance have been involved in men's work for several years, conducting personalized experiential events during which the topic of this book is explored in great depth. I read the book in preparation for attending the event. For some reason, the book never really reached out and grabbed me. It didn't quite "click" for me. BUT the personalized event that...

Not only is it honest conversation, but Feria gives men practical strategies to connect deeply with each other, modeling it from experiences in his own life, and blessing his readers with encouragement to live nakedly real with their brothers around them. This guy is the real deal, with amazing insights and spiritual depth that will capture your soul. This book is a can't miss!

BUT the personalized event that followed was life-changing! I highly recommend the event whether a man reads the book or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars Listening to the True Whisperer, September 17, 2004
This review is from: Over the Edge: Journeying Together to Recapture the Heart and Soul of a Man (Paperback)
This book has helped me in several ways.
To listen to the True voice, as opposed to the false voice.
Too many years I listened to that false voice convincing me that what I felt was right for me was actually wrong. That kept me in defeat.
The book focuses on journeying together with men to begin to show the man as God intended. We can not go it alone, we need the brotherhood, men to help and sharpen us as we walk the journey.
It teaches us that "Re-Treking" as opposed to retreating, will help us face our fears and insecurities along side another brother. I was too afraid to open up and share with another man, and many men are most likely in the same state of mind.
I think the book teaches us that we need to be "men" and it guides us through some areas that seem terrifying at times, but the results are well worth the experience.
We settle for the counterfeit all to often, and in this book we can learn the go "over the edge" and begin to experience the "real" role we are to take on as men.
I would encourage men everywhere to read this book, and team up with someone to journey with.
Jared and lance have walked with me through my journey with an unconditional love and commitment, as taught in this book. That is a priceless gift.

We need to "show the man" and not settle for less. This book is awesome in that it offers real help, stuff men can grasp on to and it's life-changing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Over the Edge - Emerging Leaders, October 18, 2004
This review is from: Over the Edge: Journeying Together to Recapture the Heart and Soul of a Man (Paperback)
Jared Feria and Lance Hastings are emerging leaders of men seeking to recapture the true essence of masculinity. They have scouted out the "Promised Land" of Authenic Manhood and have found it very good. Over the Edge proves them to be worthy guides as they lead the way through this difficult and challanging journey. They are astute guides around the many pitfalls, false paths, and shortcuts to real masculity. Those who have heard the call to take the journey deeper into authenic manhood and have been willing to take the risks involved have been few. I am confident that the compelling insight of these men in Over the Edge will cause the ranks of men following in their footsteps to swell.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a difference!, September 16, 2004
This review is from: Over the Edge: Journeying Together to Recapture the Heart and Soul of a Man (Paperback)
My husband recently read this book and I can not believe how it has changed him. He really is "showing the man." I was so interested in the new him I read it for myself. It gave me a great deal of insight into the things he and other men struggle with. I feel like I really understand him now.

5.0 out of 5 stars Out of isloation into authentic manhood, August 4, 2005
By
This review is from: Over the Edge: Journeying Together to Recapture the Heart and Soul of a Man (Paperback)
The central theme of Over the Edge (OTE) is that God did not create men to journey through this life alone. For so long I was convinced that I could fix myself had I enough time, space, freedom, and desire to do so. What a lie! OTE from the first few pages identifies the God-breathed desire in man for our lives to be something more than the daily grind. Men need men and it is in the context of brotherhood that God has provided away for us to journey into the beatufiful garden of manhood.
Much thanks to Jared and Lance for sharing your journey with the rest of us.

Every man strives to reach his potential and accomplish success in life. This book provides a tool to work toward achieving this potential in a relevant way. As a pastor, I am always looking for ways to encourage others and this book is a great resource for me to pass on.

1.0 out of 5 stars Off Base, March 10, 2005
This review is from: Over the Edge: Journeying Together to Recapture the Heart and Soul of a Man (Paperback)
I read this book and the concept of Cleaving between men is not biblical in the sense that it is used in this book. God called man and women to cleave together or for us to cleave to himself but never to be emotionally intangled with another man. This book teaches the ungodly principle of emotional entanglement with the same sex. Yes there is a need for healthy male friendships but this book is not the path to follow. I would not recommend this book at all.
