5.0 out of 5 stars Melodies That You Will Be Glad To Have Haunt You, January 19, 2000

First, I should reveal why any reader might discount my review of this recording (or might reject it altogether), then I should explain why I am IDEALLY suited to review it. You see, I know the artist. We were neighbors in California, where I first heard Kate perform her songs. And I am one of Kate's Sunburst friends referred to on the CD sleeve.

But . . . hold on a moment. What I most wish to tell you is that I have not seen Kate for more than 18 years, yet her songs have gone with me, they have pleasantly haunted my days and dreams, for all of those 18 years. They have made a positive difference in my life. And now, there are new songs from "Over the Moon" that will echo in my mind and spirit into this new millenium, well-crafted songs like "Indigo Blue," "Buddha," "Here and Gone," and "Irene." So, if you are the kind of music lover who treasures memorable, meaningful music that comes back to "haunt" you time and again, year after year, then you would do well to hear "Over the Moon."

Kate is a good performer. Have seen her several times and she's now got an even stronger backup band and backup vocals that add some real rhythm and soul to her already fine work. Playing the CD over again - it just grows on you. Looking forward to the next one from her.

5.0 out of 5 stars emotional, melodic tunes with wonderful arrangements, October 27, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Over the Moon (Audio CD)
This CD is a treat for those who enjoy honest emotions, sweet melodies and great production. The impressive list of people who play on this album augment the fine songwriting with an array of instruments and voices, perhaps most particularly on WolfSong. Quite a few of the songs are ones that stick with you for a variety of reasons, be it melody, idea, phrase, solo, hook, or harmony ... or all together.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Over the Moon' shows 'Over the Top' Great Talent, October 27, 1999
This review is from: Over the Moon (Audio CD)
This is another of those special songwriters and balladeers we wait for and hope for, but only rarely find in today's trend-dominated marketplace. Here is music and lyricism that inspire the heart, while the instrumental and voice arrangements rock the soul. In "Over the Moon" Kate Bennett is sharing a glimpse of her woman's heart through poetry and song. She is lover, mystic, mother and muse, who will take you on a trip that you will come home from glowing, as if you had been singled out to share a sacred, special treasure. Best Cuts: Buddha, The Promise, Full Moon Ride and WolfSong.

I haven't heard an album this delicious and tasty in years. Kate's brilliance as a singer/songwriter shines on each track. The musical subtleties and emotional range cover the gammut of human experience. Listen to the lyrics and melodies, they get better each time around.

This new artist carries on the tradition of Carol King and Joni Mitchell with a voice that is every bit as clear and beautiful. The lyrics are intelligent and heartwarming. The instrumental arrangement is outstanding. I find myself singing some of the songs throughout the day. They make me feel happy and uplifted.
