Laura and the Masterpiece,
By Roberta Hotard "Mrs. H" (Somewhere here, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Over My Heart (Audio CD)
I am dedicating this cd to my first love of my life, There will always be a special place in my heart for him. From every song on the cd is breathtaking to hear her voice, the words it seems like to me she is standing in front of me singing. There are 12 songs and from number 1- till the end is perfect. You never get over your first love and Laura Branigan and Sheena Easton were the first singers in my life, you dont forget those voices ever. Laura Branigan I will never be Over You. Get this cd you will not be disappointed at all. It is magnificent! Laura you are an ANGEL in Heaven. Listen to that amazing and powerful voice.

Laura Branigan's most satisfying work to date.,
By
This review is from: Over My Heart (Audio CD)
As anyone who is a fan of Laura Branigan knows, with the exception of "Self Control," most of her albums have one or two great cuts and a lot of filler. "Over My Heart" is the CD we fans have been waiting for. Every song is a gem is its own way and her voice has never sounded better. Her interpretation of "How Can I Help You to Say Goodbye," alone, is worth the price of admission. But this time, she doesn't stop there. "Over My Heart," "Didn't We Almost Win It All," "The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye," are all examples of Ms. Branigan at her best. Sometimes, even great albums fall through the cracks and this is one of those times.

Hidden Gem worth seeking out !,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Over My Heart (Audio CD)
This album is a hidden gem, especially for fans of Adult Contemporary music. Her vocals are unique and impressive. Includes the singles "It's Been Hard Enough Getting Over You", "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye" and "Love Your Girl" (also covered by Gloria Estefan). The best album tracks are "Over My Heart", "Is There Anybody Here But Me?", "Over You", a great Spanish-language song "Mujer Contra Mujer", among others. A worthy seventh effort that went unoticed by the masses.

Not over Laura yet,
By BG "howardude" (Raleigh, NC USA) - See all my reviews

I have been a fan of this voice from the beginning. Her voice is so distinctive and she seems to almost cry at times with it. A wonderful way to sing a heartbreaking love song which there are many on this album. The only song I feel does not really belong on the album and is thus the week point is "Love Your Girl". It just does not feel right and seems so out of place with the rest of the album. The rest are all winners and more than make up for it. She only gets better and I wish she would come out with something soon. She has been away too long.

Laura at her best,

Although there was little press or public acknowlegement of this CD, it is one of the best of her career. I absolutely love every song on this album. Some have dissed the Gloria Estefan penned, "Love Your Girl" I find it very good. I am one of those fans who was not particularly impressed with her debut, Gloria, but once I got entrigued with her career in 1985, I discovered a love that will always last. May Laura sing with God's angels. The "Angels Calling" choir I call it.

Buy it, buy it, buy it!
This is probably Laura Branigan's second best CD (after "Touch"), and it features some of the best recordings she ever did. Her version of "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye" will move you to tears, and "The Sweet Hello, The Sad Goodbye" will rock your world. However, the most stunning performance here is the Branigan-penned tune "Didn't We Almost Win It All" ... pure pop perfection. Laura Branigan may be gone, but her remarkable voice lives on with this excellent CD.

Totally a beautiful collection of some of her work,

I have only three Branigan albums, and i can't believe that i was away from music for so many years that I missed enjoying so much good music, at least my kind of music. I detest Rap and loud screaming lead singers backed up by a drummer who should have his sticks shoved up his nose. What is wrong with a beautiful orchestra with full strings backing Branigan, Sissel, Menzel, Brightman, Striesand, Summers, Arena, etc.?

Like Karen Carpenter, too many songs that could be sung, yet sadly were not. Great throaty/sexy voice--way appealing to many my age (46). Can I get an "amen" for Laura?
