There's something about the way Israel Kamakawiwo'ole performs this song that tugs at every heart string I have. Maybe it's because I was born in Hawaii. Maybe it's because Over the Rainbow has been a favorite of mine since childhood. Maybe it's because those things combine with the perfect timing and passion of this great talent and transport me to a time when my loved ones were all healthy and walking this world - before their journeys took them "over". Doesn't matter. Everyone should have a song like this that tears them apart.

I heard about this man when I visited Hawaii. Apparently he was the most popular musician there before he died. I decided to pickup the CD to be able to see what all the hype was about. Well, I am truly blown away. An absolute incredible voice with a great repertoire of songs. Although Somewhere Over The Rainbow is my favorite song of his, all of his albums are great! I truly recommend this peaceful music.

Heartwarming, to say the least...,

If I ever find myself in a depressed state, all it takes is for me to hear this song and shed a tear or two. Beautiful, absolutely beautiful melody with lyrics that remind us that we all have an "over the rainbow" waiting for us if we just take the time to look for it.Rest in peace, IZ.
