Editorial Reviews

At the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month in the year 1918 the guns fell silent, World War One came to an end. On Nov. 11th, 2008, in order to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the end of World War I, Keenan Powell presented "Over There: Remembering World War I." Using film shot by the US Army Signal Corp., Keenan offers a simple film remembering a time when America's children lived a nightmare existence Dante couldn't imagine...

1.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelmed April 16, 2011
By Robert
Format:Amazon Instant Video|Verified Purchase
This is a very poor documentary.

I was shocked at how bad the voice over quality was(about as bad as it gets) to start the show, and the recap of WWI was lacking in depth and writing skills.

The documentary lacks any focus and is really only music with video.

I actually would not consider this a documentary, because there is nothing to learn from watching this.

I would not recommend this video, but do recommend that Amazon take this video off of their list of videos to rent.

1.0 out of 5 stars A complete waste November 23, 2011
Format:Amazon Instant Video|Verified Purchase
I just wasted my time and money starting this one up. I should have read the first review. I agree that this should be removed, or at least make it free so people don't feel ripped off.

Just lots of old news reel footage set to tinny sounding WWI songs.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok for classroom December 4, 2012
Format:Amazon Instant Video
I showed this movie for my Special Ed English classroom because we are viewing and writing about the 1900-1919 time period. The students were interested for the time we watched and we discussed things about that time that was different from now. The movie worked well for that.
