Go through the girlfriends purse and get the money to buy this excellent heterometal CD. Would be much better with El Duce of course but still El Rapo does do a great El Duce voice.

In between The Mentor's last official album ("To The Max") and this, The Mentors weren't slacking a bit. From collaborations with other punk metal bands to their own "Church of El Duce" they were just getting their sound and licks down for the sake of this killer release.

Don't let the fact that it is in a cardboard sleeve fool you. This is the best mixed, mastered and produced Mentors CD in the band's history. While it may be missing El Duce, El Rapo and the boys fill the void left behind.

And the songs? Well, it's all primo Mentors material. With much improved chops, sick riffage (Sickie's guitar work is astounding) and a killer hidden track, it definitely is something woth the Mentors' name.

Awesome, awesome disc! Get it! Get it now you Green River crusters!

5.0 out of 5 stars They're still maxing, February 20, 2012
This review is from: Over the Top (Audio CD)
It's the first El Duce-less record for the Mentors, but oddly enough, it's still Mentors, only this time fresh and polished. With no El Duce a lot of attention is put to the music and the musicianship is simply outstanding. El Rapo / Marc Duce is the current drummer/singer. He's easy on the ears and pretty good on drums. Sickie Wifebeater is in top form, there's a lot of guitar work here. The bassist Dr. Heathen Scum sings a few of the better tunes, and does it well. Aside from a lackluster opener and a weird themed closing hidden track, each song on this record is good and memorable, they all stick with you. You might wanna give Over The Top a try.
