Review

"As I read it, thirty-five years of my secrets jumped off the page. Many books discuss the disorder, but I found this to be the easiest to read, the most informative for not only myself but my family as well, and a great comfort . . .sort of my OCD bible." (Marc Summers, television host, "Nickelodeon")

?Over and Over Again is the work of sensitive clinicians who have seen hundreds of patients with OCD. Their experience with this chronic, disabling, and mysterious disorder is apparent on every page. The book will fascinate readers with the intricacies of obsessive-compulsive symptoms that the patients share, and it will bring relief to thousands of sufferers from this disorder.? (Judith L. Rapoport, M.D., chief of child psychiatry, National Institute of Mental Health)

"A dynamic and informative book that will be of interest to OCD sufferers as well as to family members." (Michael A. Jenike, M.D., Associate Professor of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School)

"A prescription for recovery from OCD. Every person with the disorder and every treater should read this book." (Pat Perkins, president, OCD Foundation) --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, April 15, 2000
By
I read Over and Over Again several years ago. It's not a bad book to explain OCD, but there are better ones out there.

Over and Over Again contains the usual information: What OCD is like, some case examples, treatment options, and the like. Obviously, since it was written and published some years ago, there is new information out there. Still, this will serve as a great reference.

If you write articles or books on OCD and wish to cover the history of treatment, Over and Over Again will be useful to gain information from the past.

However, while it's interesting reading, if you're looking for the most up-to-date information, search for something more recently published.

I found this book warm and fuzzy for someone with OCD. It was very basic and yet had insite on the disorder that brouhgt a little hope to those of us who feel hopeless. It is a must read for evey OCD patient in that it helps one come to terms with the disorder and feel ok about getting help. It is an easy read and one that is enjoyable. If you have never read a book on OCD this is a good first start.
