What do people expect?,

After reading the reviews you would have thought people spent $50 bucks on this toy. It is now clearanced to 6.99. Many people said they only had a couple days of use out of it before it broke. Well, I'd gladly pay 6.99 to entertain my three kids for two days. It sure beats the $100 bucks it would take for the same enjoyment for two hours at Chuck E. Cheeses. People don't seem to mind "waisting" their money on something like that which entertains for a couple hours, but they expected a mylar baloon to last a lifetime. If you go to a party shop and purchase a huge mylar balloon it'll cost you about $5 or more and deflates in a day or so...plus you can't use it like a frisbee either. I agree that the 12.99 price may have been a bit steep for the glorified balloon, but 6.99 is worth a days fun in my book.

This is an awesome toy. I inflated it with a hand pump (as I didn't feel like paying for helium when it says not to play with it outside with helium) and overinflated it. I released some air and the bar inside promptly resumed its shape. We took it outside and watched it fly. But one warning: If you have a small yard, DO NOT PLAY WITH THIS IN A SMALL YARD! It floats fast and far, which made us very nervous as it sailed towards the neighbor's roof on one side (powered by a 5 year old) and the fence with dog on the other side. So we took it to the park. I would have given it 5 stars for fun if it wasn't so nerve racking to watch it seem to fly away. But, it's soft and despite knocking into plenty of objects and children, did no harm inside or outside, even after sailing a couple dozen feet in the air and falling straight down. It took several hard falls and did not break. Our kids were not incredibly gentle with it (despite being told to) and it did not tear, wear or anything. If it comes with a hole: TAKE IT BACK (As it is obviously defective)! Ours took normal abuse from a 5 and 7 year old and attracted many kids, but as it was becoming too windy to control (DO NOT USE IN HIGH WIND) we had to put it up. But while the wind is low with plenty of ground to cover--it's an awesome super frisbee. Inside, with helium, it's a ton of fun, too and unlike a frisbee, you don't have to worry about it breaking anything, really--it just bounces off.

I recently purchased this product for my 10 year old daughter. After an hour of playing with this product , the disc started leaking air from several spots around the metal rim where the hover disc material had worn away. My daughter was not misusing the product in any way, but it just did not hold up. It is a shame because the girls were having alot of fun for the hour it held up.

This toy ripped within about 20 minutes of play. It was fun while it lasted, but it made the kids cry when it broke. Won't buy one again!

No doubt about it, it's a big mylar balloon with a ring inside it to keep the shape. But the aerodynamics are great to experiment with. If you decide to buy this toy, please follow the instructions carefully. When properly inflated and used in an open setting, it will work beautifully and should last for white a while. I got the disc for my daughter in January 2003 and it's never had a hole or a leak. We only filled it with air, not helium. The packaging recommends helium only for indoor use, such as in a gymnasuim or another open area. (The tv commercials are a bit misleading when they show it being used in a home.) When filled with air, we take it to a park (a soccer field or baseball diamond) on a non-windy day and toss it around. We have a great time playing with it and running around with it. After almost a year it hasn't lost much air - we've never had to add more air - and has never had a hole. Bottom line: save the helium for indoor use only, use it only in wide open spaces (away from trees and powerlines), and follow the instructions in the package. I'm buying a few for Christmas gifts this year.

I bought this toy, against my better judgement, for my 8 year old son, and paid to have it inflated with helium. The commercial and the packaging said it was suitable for outdoor use. He and his siblings tried several of the manuvers shown on the commercial and played a game of their own. Within 20 minutes it had two holes in it and the frame was poking out through the mylar. This toy is a rip off and a piece of junk. I would NOT recommend this toy to anyone! Don't waste your money.

The Coolest Toy At The Park!,

First time my kids saw this beautiful hovering disc across the park we all ran over to figure out what it was. The disc just sails through the air slowly and it is a real treat for little kids and adults alike. My kids practically wrestled it out of the arms of the father and little boy who owned it so I knew it was a trip to Toys-R-Us in store. The kids have not seen the commercial that someone else commented on, we only know what we saw at the park. We now have one of our own and the kids cannot wait to go to the park and sail it. I think it is a great toy, visually interesting, makes you think about aerodynamics, runs the heck out of your kids to exhaust them, and is a simple construction at a low price for long term fun and minimal loss if it breaks..... it was cheaper than a trip to Chuck E. Cheese and a heck of alot more fun!

A friend of mine had bought me this Hover Disc as a gift and the first day I went out to try it ... I had over inflated it. If you over inflate the Hover Disc the metal ring around the hover disc bends and you need to release the air out in order to make it round again. In the commercials on TV the Hover disc looked very puffy and full of air but actually you only put a little bit of air and when you're done it definitely doesn't look like what it does in the commercials. Also trying to get the air out of the Hover Disc in situations like mine where you over inflated it is a difficult task. A friend and I were passing the Hover Disc around sucking air out of it with a straw that was enclosed with the packaging. Long review short ... it's fun but not worth your money. Just go buy a rubber frisbee or something instead. Don't let the commercial fool you ! In my opinion it's junk !

I've written this because I read a couple of reviews that says the kids managed to rip/wreck it in less than an hour. I have two very active boys, 6 & 8, and they've had them for months and haven't ripped either one yet. If however you do get a puncture or tear, packing tape should do the trick for repairs. We haven't done it ourselves, but I think a little helium would make the tricks a little easier, especially if you bought the one with the wristbrand. We lost the first one we had: it went over the fence and by the time we could go looking for it, it was gone.... So playing with it in a large open space would be better than an enclosed back yard. All in all, the kids love them, and the designs are fun too.

This was a gift from a friend of my 8 year son. We'd seen it advertised on TV and were curious to try it out. Boy did we have fun! We quickly realized it's not a good indoor toy unless you have a big house. We took it into the back yard and despite several hard landings on our desert soil, it held up well. We then took it to a wide open park (we don't have many trees here) on a breezy day and flung it all over the place. If you give it plenty of space and avoid trees and bushes, I think this thing will last a long time. We've gotten two hours of hard play out of it already and it's still in excellent shape. This has turned out to be a fun gift and one we'll probably buy for someone else next time we need a gift for a kid in this age range.
