What is Astro Frontier?
Astro Frontier is a casual resource management simulation that was inspired by the classic Oregon Trail game we enjoyed as kids, as well as Euro-Style Board Games like Agricola and Battlestar Galactica. Astro Frontier, like Oregon Trail, is a game about traveling to a far away destination but with resource balancing mechanics derived from Battlestar Galactica and a scoring system learned from Agricola, all wrapped up and presented as a deep-sea-themed deep-space sci-fi adventure that will have you crossing a vast ocean of stars to make it your destination.

Choose from three different flagships and nine different supporting spaceships to help manage, gather, and sustain your resources to overcome the daily events that stand in your way. Along the way, you just might find your fleet resembling a bubbling aquarium filled with fish more than a deadly armada, just don’t let your guard down because swarms of space pirates are waiting to battle along the way!

What are people saying about Astro Frontier?
“Like Oregon Trail but in outer space. Only slightly less dysentery though.” - a Google User

“Turn based space strategy with elements of rock paper scissors, Homeworld, and FTL.” - a Google User

“Astro Frontier is a game that might appeal to folks feening for Oregon Trail, except that this adventure takes place a few feet higher in the air, and there is much less flux to contend with. Thankfully.” - androidrundown.com [Overall score: 8.25 out of 10]

4.0 out of 5 stars Oregon Trail in Space January 12, 2013

Astro Frontier Lite is a journey game similar to Oregon Trail. Each turn allows you to collect resources, build new ships, and encounter obstacles. It's all executed well, and this free version is full-featured enough to give you a representative idea of the full game.

I had this game figured out 1/3 of the way through the first game. It would be fun for an hour or two for a 10-12 year old.
I think its probably beyond younger kids, to solve the logic. FWIW, you max out at 10 on the 4 resources, and here is the solution.
Your main ship makes factory ships, the factory ships make resource ships until you have enough to get 8+ of each resource every round. You then get your factory ships building civilian ships until you are building 3 per round. There is some blending,
but something like that will max the total score. The game ends on arrival. 100+ turns. Get speed boost or something from science ship to cut the (double speed) fuel cost to 2. By then you will find you are producing way too much fuel.

Its a simple puzzle game for a kid, but fun for a couple hours if you like puzzles.
Not like chess or poker, where you can play forever.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun in the beginning September 7, 2013

The beginning of Astro Frontier is fun but quickly gets repetitive. Need to put in more variables in the game. The attack sequence "Counter" did not seem to do anything. Also the screen "curtain" between moves really slows down the battle sequence. With a little polishing and more variables, this could be a better game. Look forward to Astro Frontier 2...

2.0 out of 5 stars Quickly gets repetitive July 26, 2013

While it seemed interesting at first this game quickly gets repetitive. It takes around 1000-1200 turns to complete a game and there's little to no surprise after the first 100 or so turns.
