I have had the opportunity to hear Alvin Slaughter live and although (as the previous reviewer mentioned) this cd does not show the full range of Alvin's abilities, he does an amazing job of helping us as Christians to understand what it takes to be an overcomer (the cd's theme). Although there are some tunes with a chorus line that's easy to remember, I got the feeling the intention was for us as listeners to reflect on our ability to overcome any situation through the process of thanksgiving, praise, confessing your sins and giving glory to our creator. I was truly blessed and have been playing it over and over again just to marinate on the words.

A mainstay in music, Alvin Slaughter brings an comforting, moving, inspirational, and Scripture-filled project. It's full of surprises. Every song embodies a powerful message with beautiful harmonies and excellent music. Definitely a must-buy and nothing short of excellent.

Alvin is a fantastic vocalist but this song collection doesn't do much to showcase his talent. If you are looking for Alvin at his best purchase his prior CD, "Faith Life" instead. This is one of those CD's that you replay with hopes that it will grow on you but I can't get the feel of this one at all. A couple songs on this CD are listenable.

The CD was delivered just as promised. The music sounds good. There are more good tracks than bad, so I think it was more the worth it to buy this artist.
