5.0 out of 5 stars This book saved my life
I was a crystal meth addict for 5 1/2 years. I've been to rehab, NA meetings, counseling etc. and always relapsed. I found that you cannot quit until you are really ready to quit for yourself. This book has everything you need to do so. Dr. Lee's book is non-judgemental and very accurate in explaining meth's appeals and consequences. This book is helping me stay clean...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I felt the doctor who wrote the book concentrated more on usage of crystal meth by gays. I cannot relate to that aspect. Also he was very lenient in his thinking about quitting. According to his rationale you can cut back on crystal meth, an option that I don't think hard-core users could be successful at doing. In my opinion it was more a handbook for users who will...

4.0 out of 5 stars Help for my son, December 22, 2006
This review is from: Overcoming Crystal Meth Addiction: An Essential Guide to Getting Clean (Paperback)
My son is currently spending time in a correctional facility...for the 2nd time. All related to this horrible drug. I sent him this book a week or so ago and he's so amazed how right on the book is to his feelings and experiences. He tells me he's taking his time, working through the exercises and feels inspired that this book will help him through his road to recovery. I'm going to buy a copy for me so that I can better understand it's effects.

5.0 out of 5 stars FINALLY! A Real, Hopeful Approach to end the Hell of Crystal Addiction., October 10, 2006
This review is from: Overcoming Crystal Meth Addiction: An Essential Guide to Getting Clean (Paperback)
If you have ever thought of trying crystal-meth, or think you have a problem with the drug- this book is essential reading. It speaks to you in a language that today's "users" will understand and have difficulty denying the truths put forth about using meth, sex, sexuality, work and day to day life. After a two year long serious and sometimes seemingly hopeless escape from the world of Meth and "Party life" ...this one book hit every chord of day to day life and real strategies for the tough road of recovery. When every MD, and Psychologist told me that there is no cure for Meth addiction, this book showed me that there is a way and I've been living it everyday now for almost a year. I would recommend this book to anyone who has any questions about using Meth. Required reading for all parents of all teens, and all teen homosexuals!

4.0 out of 5 stars A disturbing look at meth addiction, October 10, 2007
This review is from: Overcoming Crystal Meth Addiction: An Essential Guide to Getting Clean (Paperback)
This is a book that takes you into the dark side of meth addiction. If you are a parent of a meth addict, you could be very upset and disturbed by what you learn. He talks about the lifestyle and damage from meth use. He doesn't offer a whole lot of hope. If you are looking for support for yourself or the addict you know, this is not a book that is going to provide that type of information. It will tell you the kind of damage it does to the body, the family, and the community.

This book is the most informative and helpful I have read so far as a clinician helping men overcome Crystal Meth Addiction. Dr. Lee explains other conditions that the drug can mask, exacerbate or create such as Depression, ADHD, and sexual addiction. He compassionately explains all of these problems and how they interact with the drug. A highly recommended read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really Helpful, November 3, 2006
This review is from: Overcoming Crystal Meth Addiction: An Essential Guide to Getting Clean (Paperback)
This book was great. This is the first time I've read something by a doctor where I finally felt understood. And the book helped me to understand other things about myself and meth too. After 2 rehabs, I still fell back into meth as soon as I met someone to have sex. I thought I was a failure who was never going to get out of this mess. This book helped me see what was missing in what I was doing in rehab, and I feel like I have a chance at stopping crystal. I'm buying copies of this book for my crystal using friends, and I hope it helps them as much. Check out this book. That means YOU, if you work with crystal addicts in rehabs too!

As a 10-year meth addict looking to get clean I was having a hard time finding literature that didn't completely demonize my addiction & "turn me off" from reading it - then I found this book. Dr Lee does a great job of presenting information about meth & meth addiction without judgement. How refreshing that someone finally let the facts speak for themselves so I could start to see meth for the true demon it was.

This book was probably the biggest factor in convincing me to get clean FOR GOOD a year ago. I recommend it to anyone who uses meth, is thinking of using meth, or just wants to understand meth better.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overcoming Ice and Helpful hints to STAY clean, December 30, 2007

This review is from: Overcoming Crystal Meth Addiction: An Essential Guide to Getting Clean (Paperback)
As a 30 yr old straight male, I thought this book was very informative. This is the best book I've read yet on Crystal Meth. I have been clean for 7 months and was looking for some good books to help me stay clean. Obviously only time will tell but I found this book very helpful. It is a down to earth, realistic approach to helping both users and former users identify with the core issues of meth addiction. From what it does to the brain to why sex is so amazing on ice. Most of the books I've read have been spiritual and judgmental and I was about to give up on them until I found this one. If your interested in knowing the facts and what to do to help yourself this is the book you want!

5.0 out of 5 stars Help is here, October 24, 2006
This review is from: Overcoming Crystal Meth Addiction: An Essential Guide to Getting Clean (Paperback)
I feel like this book saved my life! My husband been using meth for 5 years, and for the past year I've been feeling trapped using almost every single day. I bought this book because I wanted to get information without having to talk to anyone, and it helped me so much. Don't worry-the cover isn't that scary red (I was afraid my friends would see it), it's actually green. This book gave me hope that he can get better, and it saved my marriage! It helped me finally know what it is he's going through! Now we are looking for someone to help him quit. If you're not ready to talk with someone yet but want to know more about how to stop using meth, get this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you Dr. Lee!, October 24, 2006
This review is from: Overcoming Crystal Meth Addiction: An Essential Guide to Getting Clean (Paperback)
I don't use crystal, but I have many friends who do. They are all intelligent gay men, and they know the deal with safe sex, but in the past year three of them became HIV-positive. I bought this book on the recommendation of a friend, and it is fantastic! As I watched my friends slowly disintegrating in front of me, I didn't know what was going on. But Overcoming Crystal Meth explained everything so clearly. Now I really understand. The chapter for friends of meth users that helped me figure out how to deal with my addicted friends. I've been offered crystal in the past but just wasn't in the mood--now I'm so grateful I didn't get caught up in it! I just wish my friends who got HIV could have read Dr. Lee's book earlier.
