Overcoming Emotional Chaos a practical aid for stress, November 23, 2002
This review is from: Overcoming Emotional Chaos (Paperback)
From the moment I started to read Overcoming Emotional Chaos I felt like someone understood the emotional problems that I had been dealing with. To say this book is practical is an understatement. Each chapter is very readable and the reader feels like she/he is being assisted in a very personal way. I felt like I was entering in a new, more effieient relationship with myself via my heart. This is such a worthwhile book for couples and anyone interested in gaining emotional insights. Read this book and become more loving to yourself and others.

A thousand thanks couldn't express my full gratitude!, December 2, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Overcoming Emotional Chaos (Paperback)
I only read the first few chapters, but skipped ahead to put the principles to work.....AND THEY DO WORK!!! I've been dealing with more emotional upheaval in the last 4 years than I feel I've had to deal with in the first 58 years of my life! Now, I have a technique that puts a clear, new presepective on matters, and allows me to remain calm and divinely detached. A thousand thanks couldn't express my full gratitude!

For everyone, September 30, 2011
This review is from: Overcoming Emotional Chaos (Paperback)
I was lent this book. I've so far read the first 5 chapters. I learned of the Institute of HeartMath when I found the Center for Non Violent Communication (cnvc.org). I learned about the Cut-thru technique at the Instititue of HeartMath's website, a few weeks before this book was lent to me. I can say that this is a very easy read and for everyone. No, not ONLY for couples. It's for single people. It's for working people. It's for teenagers. It is for the chornically unemployed. It's for everyone. I have gained a little insight into what I need to do by going into my heart and asking what I need to do. I started using the Cut-Thru technique a few weeks ago. But I can't get there unless my heart is coherent. You don't find the answers you need when under stress. When I sell enough bread (I'm not working, not on SSI and unemployment ran out in 2010), I'm going to have to purchase this book. It is that good. If I could give this book 10 stars, I would. The steps of the Cut-Thru technique are 1. Be aware of how you feel. Admit it. (If it's anger, depression, upset at so and so. . .just admit it). 2. Focus on your heart and think of someone that you love or appreciate. Or someone that loves you and appreciates you. Keep that feeling of love and compassion in your heart throughout all steps. 3. Look at the issue as if it was someone else's problem and then have compassion for that person. You need to keep your focus on your heart. 4. Rest in netural. This is a place where you rest your heart and just be. You can have the attitude of "I don't know". No answers come in this step. It prepares you for one. Step 4 can be hard to rest in netural since it is your mature heart. 5. Soak and relax any disturbed feelings in the compassion of your heart. Take away the signifigance of the issue through the compassion you feel. 6. Ask your heart for guidance on this issue (what ever it may be, it can be anything!). I usually stay in step 2 for quite some time since it is very hard for me to get that feeling of love in my heart. But once I have it, I hold on to it. I also try to stay in step 5 for a while. I place so much importance on a job and for me, my life is defined by having a job. So, I need to reduce the signifigance of having and needing a job to feel worthy of self-love. (I've been unemployed for over 4 years). I also ask my heart to guide me throughout the day and after the sun goes down in step 6. I got through all steps just yesterday. Don't worry if you are doing it "right". Just begin. I was falling asleep in step 2 many times. I'm not here yet, but once you do this enough, you will remember all steps and you can do this on the go, in the car, at work for 5 minutes. Of course there is another techniques you can use throughout the book (another one is called the Heart Lock In technique. I don't know enough about that one to share it, but I bet ya it is discussed on their website!) You can get free resources from their website. And you can also pay to purchase their emWave 2, which helps you put your heart into coherence. All of their books and products help you to put your heart into coherence so you can live a full life and not be in a life of emotional chaos all the time. I can't wait untl I get through this book and purchase it on my own! I promise you, you will not be disappointed with this book. It will give you step by step instructions on HOW to do each and every step for EACH technique used and will give examples for you to learn.
