4.0 out of 5 stars Overcoming Jealousy
When I read this book, I felt very familiar about my own feeling and situation. I used to wonder why I had this jealous feeling about my relationship, and I felt quilty about feeling that way. It really bothered me a lot. After I read this book, I clearly understood the difference between "healthy jealousy" and "unhealthy jealousy". The Author gives...

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is terrible!
I would NOT recommend this book. This reads more like a clinical text book for psychiatrist rather than a book to help people. It talks about the ABCDEF framework model and simply looses the reader. To be honest, I can't say enough bad things about this book. I would recommend "No more Jealousy" by Susie and Otto Collings. Don't waste your money on this book.

The Author gives a lot of examples to compare these two different jealousies. I learned how to change negative jealousy into healthy emotion from this book. This book is a really helpful for peopel who suffer from feelings of insecurity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it, May 13, 2001

Great book. Very practical. Cuts right to the heart of the issue without a lot of psychological mumbo jumbo. I bought three books on the topic and this was the best of them. Its harder to put the suggestions into practice as this is a tough issue to overcome but the book and its logic could not be better.

I just got this book today and decided to read it while waiting for my laundry at the laundromat. It is an excellent book- so much so that I am already done with it. It did a nice job of getting right to the heart of my issue(s). There are plenty of examples and real, practical instructions on how to tackle the problems associated with jealousy. I highly recommend this book!

I bought several books on this subject at the request of my 19 year old son who was having trouble being jealous of his girlfriend. I must say, we both preferred "Overcoming Jealousy and Possesiveness" by Paul Hauck because it was much more straight forward than this book which gets mired in an "ABCDEFG" analysis of provoking behaviors and responses--just a bit too removed from real feelings and worries and beliefs. However, if you can get past this unnecessarily confusing weakness, the book has real suggestions to make on how to overcome the jealous thoughts and choices.

My son is making real progress on understanding his insecurities and their role in his jealous behaviors.

Good luck in slaying the green monster too!

Firstly, I feel this book is underrated. In some of the other reviews, other books (which I have read) are referenced. Some of them are introductions to the subject, and are easy reads ... but they don't actually provide a framework or tools to work on overcoming unhealthy jealousy.

Yes, if you or a loved one has a problem with unhealthy jealousy (as I do), real effort and work is required to manage and overcome this problem. This book tells you how to do it. As I struggle with my problem, I refer back to this book often, and use it to help me resolve issues and work on thinking and acting in a healthier fashion.

If you want a brief and easy to read book that introduces you to the topic of jealousy, this is not the book for you. Although I found it easy to read, this book is not written conversationally and those who do not care to read often might find it a bit difficult to approach.

However, for those who persevere through the explanation of the REBT method, there is some great meat-and-potatoes to give you the help that you are probably seeking if you are reading this book.

This book does not really focus or provide help for the partner of someone who is suffering from unhealthy jealousy, besides perhaps explaining some of the mindset.

Read the book. Do the exercises. Feel better. Behave like a better partner.

This isn't bad, but I don't think it will be of much use to anyone who really struggles with jealousy. Will probably need more traditional therapy
