Great hope for those starting the program,
This review is from: Overeaters Anonymous (Paperback)
As the other reviewer mentioned, this book is a collection of short stories about people who have dramatically changed their lives through Overeaters Anonymous. It is not an instruction guide, but that isn't really how the program works anyway. This book shows how the program has worked for others, and gives ideas and suggestions that others have used. It is a great support book to the meetings, and the core OA Literature (which is provided at meetings, along with the 12 Steps and 12 Traditions book, and the "Big Book"- Alcoholics Anonymous.

A necessary manual of overeaters anonymous for procedures and review. Am attending a in-depth discussion group going over the book line by line.
Absolutely a necessity!

This book is a lot of short stories about people who have tried OA, succeeded, failed, succeeded again, etc. Most are stories from members who started the program when it was founded. OK, but I had hoped it would be more about the 12 step program for OA and how to understand/work on each step. Although it had the 12 steps listed (one page of book), there really wasn't info on how to do the steps. Personally this book was a waste of money for me and the stories were boring after the first couple - they all said the same thing over and over. I finally gave up reading the stories. Outside of the stories, there is only a handful of pages in the book and really does nothing to tell you how to work on the program. The only OA meeting in my area isn't really close, is in a bad area of town and unless I know it's going to be worth my time, I'm not driving there at night. This book didn't help in my decision at all.
