4.0 out of 5 stars This tribute really kicks... for the most part
Metllica is and always will be the kings of metal, and for the most part this CD is worthy of wearing the Metallica name. First off, I must say that some of these cover versions just plain sucked! Metllica is and always will be the kings of metal, and for the most part this CD is worthy of wearing the Metallica name. First off, I must say that some of these cover versions just plain sucked! I won't mention specifics, but the true Metallica fan will find them with ease. However, there is enough good material here to warrant buying the disc. Most noteworthy are the covers of Whiplash, Fight Fire With Fire, and Damage, Inc. The band FIST, who covered Damage, Inc., actually used to play shows with my old band in Indianapolis, so I'm partial to that one. Overall this disc is worth picking up, especially for the die-hard Metallicatz.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Metal Explosion, July 28, 2000
This review is from: Overload (Audio CD)
For those who think that a tribute to a band has to sound like that band don't even waste your time on this album. For those who love metal, love Metallica, and love aggresion, get this album. The bands who cover the songs play with their hearts. You can hear the pride in playing these songs. They are showing all where Metallica came from, where they are going, and where these bands themselves are going. I usually hate tributes (Like the Kiss tribute which was so weak). This is for true Metallica fans and true metal fans in general. Lastly for those who think these guys are screaming on the album, go back to BSB and N'Sync and leave the metal to the true of heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Metallica, February 23, 2000

Great Cd with pretty good covers. However this would appeal to heavy metal fans because of the loud, gutteral lyrics which some people like and some don't.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not bad for a bunch of common death metal bands!, February 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Overload (Audio CD)
This album isn't Metallica but i have to give credit to the bands for trying. The best song on the whole album is King Nothing by Castle Of Pain. The other bands who used the "godzilla" voices like Crematorium were really screwed up versions! And Enter Sandman by fongus just plain sucked (He must have fongus in his brain to sing like that and screw the song up!) Over all if you like Death metal and Metallica get this album.

3.0 out of 5 stars metallica doesnt sound good in death, July 26, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Overload (Audio CD)
In my opinion this is a weak tribute album, metallica just does not sound that good in a death metal genre. Most songs like "whiplash" or "jump in the fire" become repitive. Steel Prophet however does a good cover of fade to black (as always) damage inc. is also a very good song done fast. Dont buy this unless your a pretty big metallica fan. Or if your into their new stuff.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hard & Heavy, February 27, 1999
This review is from: Overload (Audio CD)
I think this CD is very good covers by some promising bands. I think the best songs are Jump In The Fire by Terror and Trapped Under Ice by Prototype. The only song that I can't stand is Enter Sandman by Fongus. That's because it dosent work when your lead singer sounds like the guy who sings the Maccarena. All the other songs are good but some take some getting used to. The instrumental part is accurate and up to speed which is supprising with songs like Damage Inc. and Whiplash on the album. However some solos did get changed such as the Fade To Black intro solo. I recommend this album to everyone who likes their music like I do..."Hard & Heavy"

1.0 out of 5 stars Learn to play with some melody first., January 6, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Overload (Audio CD)
Metallica is about more than being heavy that's one thing only true Metallica fans can tell. They not only write songs well, but the preform well. What these bands don't understand is that there is more to metaly than meets the eye. Metallica preforms well so I would not recomend purchace of this cd.
