Product Description

THINK EVIL, BREED EVIL, and CONTROL ALL - Overlord: Raising Hell, the groundbreaking Action RPG set in a seriously warped fantasy world, has now arrived to PlayStation 3. With plenty of black humour and dark irony, this game immerses the player in twisted parodies of classic fantasy scenarios and characters. Your word is law as you become the all powerful Overlord, a mysterious figure that has inherited the legacy of the evil after being raised from the dead. The game¿s key innovation is the introduction of an array of impish creatures - the Minions. Accompanied by a horde of these slavishly loyal rascals, the Overlord plays dirty tricks on anything that moves to become even more powerful. The gremlin-like critters will follow your every instruction no matter how despotic or, for the Minions, life threatening it is. The PlayStation 3 version of this game allows you to explore and conquer 5 extra supernatural realms. Defend the Overlord's tower against waves of enemy attack with seven additional online multiplayer maps, including the competitive 'Capture the Maiden' map and 'Protect Your Power'. The Challenge Pack also introduces a 'Legendary' mode, which challenges you by using your most aggressive minion managing skills to complete the single-player game under exceptional circumstances. The PlayStation 3 edition includes 7.1 Surround Sound, screen hints, tactics and tips and an onscreen mini-map making it easier to navigate around the world of the Overlord. Be evil... or really evil with Overlord - it's time to raise hell.

5.0 out of 5 stars a fun and humorous game July 13, 2008

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I really enjoyed this game. Overlord is one of the few titles on PS3 that will allow you to play a strategy-type game (but also retains some optional first-person smiting of your own). You're leading a pack of minions of several types, and have to use them strategically to win your battles.

Even though at a first glance the Overlord you're controlling is an evil creature, the gameplay allows you to proceed through the game doing mostly noble and helpful deeds, while listening to lots of humorous feedback. Throughout the game, it retains an enjoyable light-hearted atmosphere, without the usual "save-the-mankind-from-doom-and-gloom" setting.

Animation and graphics look a bit dated, but this doesn't get in the way of fun. Definitely, a recommended purchase if you're looking for a new type of PS3 entertaining. If you want to try it out, just download a free demo from the PSN store, I think it gives an accurate impression of the whole experience.

4.0 out of 5 stars Being Evil isn't so bad... August 4, 2008
By P. Weir
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
When this was put out for the X-Box 360 and PC there was complaints about controling your minions and no map, bugs in the system. There have been great improvements for the PS3. There is a map, so now you don't run around in circles. Monions are very easy to control, they are still playful and love getting drunk and pissing on the floor. It doesn't take much to upset the towns people.
I believe anyone who like adventure games would enjoy this.

4.0 out of 5 stars Overlord - Alan's review July 28, 2009

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Overlord Raising Hell is a good game if you like to command units to do your bidding.

In this game you need to reclaim your dark kingdom because your castle has been destroyed by some meddlesome heroes. They killed your predecessor so now you need to take over your kingdom once again. In the beginning of your game you go in search of your different types of minions because they have been scattered over the world. If you are good at strategy games you will re conquer your kingdom in no time but you need to have patience. The game sometimes gets challenging because you will be travelling through large lands and sometimes it seems like a maze. The game gets fun when your minions clash with large groups of enemies. Sometimes your minion horde is totally destroyed then you will find yourself fighting for your life so you should always have your best weapon handy.

There are 4 kinds of minions that you can command.

- Brown minions are your main fighters and they can take the most damage so you would want to have more of them than any other unit.
- Green minions are smelly creatures but they are very sneaky while guarding. They are almost unnoticeable if only they could take a bath so you may not want them to guard against animals. They are also the only unit that can get rid of plants that give off noxious fumes that kill any other minion.
- Blue minions can cross water and are the only minions that can any other unit would drown they are very magical and can raise dead minions if you get them there in time. They are horrible fighters but if you fight spirits like wisps or ghosts they are the only unit that can combat them.
- Red minions are fiery creatures that can throw fire balls at enemies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game at this price point January 12, 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
The game Overlord: Raising Hell, is a fun, amusing little gane, At the current $30-$40 price point it's well worth the dollars. The key idea of this game (unlike most arcade games) is that you do NOT attack or affect the enemies directly (except under the most dire of circumstances). Instead you control your minions and let THEM do the dirty work for you. They'll even bring back your money and treasure after they get done looting the room and killing the monsters. There's a fair amount of resource management (being sure you have enough of each minion to accomplish some particular task), and a lot of strategy and puzzle solving (putting certain minions in certain spots to control the fight). It really is a blast, and the cutscenes and NPC animations etc. are quite amusing.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best games I've played June 8, 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
If you're one of those people who enjoyed Fable, this is the game for you. It has great dialogue, humor, and it's just amazingly entertaining. Your minions can get drunk and start peeing all over the place, you kidnap helpless townsfolk for your castle, you can kill hobbits (well, they're called halflings in the game, but same thing), and a bunch of other fun things. :D Get the game! You won't be disappointed!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very surprising. January 12, 2013
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I can honestly say that when I picked up this game I didn't expect anything unique or different. I was so WRONG. This game starts with a slow story and not much background information. But as you progress through the game there are hints about your past. You soon become obsessed with the story and humor. The controls are hard to get at the beginning but it gets easier and the ending is a truly worth it. I LOVE THIS GAME.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overloard is fun, and unique December 1, 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've had this game for some time now. I love the game play, being able to control the minions as you walk around each world. You can decide to be evil and keep the locals under your thumb, or be kind and merciful. (you get more power for being evil) And the game builds as you go. You learn to control your minions, you get new kinds of minions as you go, and new weapons and powers. Control is good and not as complicated as some others say it is. In most games you can control the view of your character with the right thumb stick, but that is used to control your minions in this game, so that is one thing common in most games not found in this one that takes some getting used to, but that was about it. Most the rest of it is learn as you go and enjoy being EVIL!
