More About the Author

Having lived and worked through the sixties, Judith Kendall was not only a witness to the significant changes occurring, she was part of them. Her own career launched during this period and over the next generations, she developed a seasoned perspective on the subtle and not-so-subtle distinctions between local neighborhood companies and large city organizations, knowledge that has lent itself well to her first novel, Overtime.
Put on the back burner for many years, her fascination for the sixties never dwindled, causing her to return again and again to finish the book. Each time, she was that much older, that much wiser, and had many more experiences to add. Her challenge was to keep the story in its time period and interweave the complexities of business relationships with the personal dynamics of the era, and that she has done.
A native Southern Californian, Ms. Kendall resides in a suburb community of Los Angeles and still works part time to this day. Her spare hours are now committed to writing, the vocation she feels she put off far too long.

This book was a pleasant surprise. I have always been fascinated with the "1960's" because I was a young woman during those years and found that the characters and story line followed closely to my experiences at the time. Also, because it is set where I have lived my whole life, in Los Angeles, California. Ms. Kendall's descriptions of the characters and places are spot on in the book. It's a good old fashioned love story set in the business world of the 1960's, with a bit of mystery thrown in. I highly recommend this book if you want an easy, enjoyable read set in a highly controversial era.

Oh Those Sixties
Those turbulent Nineteen Sixties are pleasantly described with all its dynamics of the changing society due to the revolution of gender relations, flower power, and overwhelming resulting notion that "what feels good, must be good". Families never were the same again!
"Overtime" shows real people, the real problems of that time, and the resulting stress on families; the overindulgence and the drug culture's disastrous effect on individuals, relationships and children. The core family as a lifelong bond shrivels away and leaves people guide-less and looking for direction in this new world of theirs. It is beautifully described.
The author shows also to have a keen understanding of the changes in the work force, as women start to put more and more their stamp on the atmosphere in the business; she was able to humanize this nicely.
An engaging book and I hope we will see more of this author.

Overtime: Great book, looking for more books by this author. The story is fun and easy flowing. You get into the characters life immediately. The story reminds me of the movies I watched growing up with the setting of the mid 60's. Since time does repeat itself, a lot of the issues the characters are going through you can see it in today's world. The Madman producers should read this book and take some of the chapters and make a episode out of it.

I really enjoyed this book !!! It is set in a time when women were still not considered equals in the work place. I am a 41 year old woman and really could appreciate how far society and women have come in the work place. Its fascinating to read a book that is set back in this time frame it really shows the growth that has gone on in our world. As for the story very refreshing story line with lots of twists and turns through out. Very enjoyable exciting read I would recommend this book to anyone especially women.

Sincerely,
