2.0 out of 5 stars Underwhelmed June 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Hmmmm. 2 stars is being nice. Let's see... this book seemed like it was written by an 8th grader. I have no idea how people were rating it 4 or 5 stars. The reviews were obviously inflated because no one in their right mind would think this story or the writing was quality. The writing was not only juvenile, but the editing was horrendous! (And this is coming from a girl who frequently reads self published authors.) The insta-love factor was beyond annoying. I had to pretend that the characters had known each other for months rather than just a few days in order to make the story remotely believable. Donovan cried WAY too much (I happen to like alpha males) and Allie seemed to have the emotional apptitude of a junior high school student. This book was almost a "do not finish" for me, but because I'm not a quitter, I hung in there and finished it. The story was so full of cliches and cheesy lines I had a hard time not gagging. The characters are one-dimensional and there was no big reveal that would even make this story somewhat interesting. I have never given a review like this so I feel bad because anyone writing a book deserves some credit. I will say that the story did pick up somewhat at the end and was slightly intriguing, so I may decide to read the next book in the hope that it can deliver on the promise of a potentially engaging story. The description of this book made it seem so much more interesting than it actually was. I had to struggle to get through this. It seemed the author was trying to capitalize on a formula she didn't quite know how to calculate.

4.0 out of 5 stars Looking forward to book two. January 14, 2013

You will not have a slow build up to the relationship between Donovan and Allie, like you do in most books. They literally run into each other and less than 24 hours later they are practically professing their love to each other. I have to admit, it's kind of nice to get to the mushy stuff right away, but at the same time I'm thinking to myself "really" it just seems so unrealistic. However with that being said. I think there is a good story here. Donovan and Allie both have a past that is going to threaten their relationship. Donovan's past may even prove to be life threatening to Allie, but in the meantime they are working to both fight the demons from their past and fight for this promising relationship. Again, this book is very fast paced and will not give you that slow longing build up for them to get together like most books. I liked the characters just would have appreciated even more detail about them. I look forward to the second book in the series as I know their is going to be some pretty intense confrontations in there and I can't wait.

3.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed January 26, 2013

I would actually give it a 3.5 stars. I felt like I had a love/hate with this book. I was pulled in right away & the book had some steamy scenes. I do like the characters & will read the next book if their is a #2. A couple of things that gave me the hate feeling was Allie cried all the time and her self esteem issues bordered on annoying but not to over the top that you couldn't understand her feelings. It was so much happy one second & miserable the next second second for her. I wanted to feel that happy feeling for longer other than the sex scenes. Not to say those scenes weren't HOT! Because the were scorching HOT. I loved Donovan. He sounds gorgeous, sexy, smart, confident, strong, sensitive and dreamy. You can see he has some demons of his own but the author did a great job making you fall in love with this doctor. I am looking forward to reading the next book to see where the author takes us and it seems like it may turn to be an exciting suspense to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Erotic, fun, yet meaningful read March 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A very erotic story that will make your blood run hot, without ever being simply pornographic. Not simply erotic either, there is a story here as well, a good one. One I feel we will learn more about in more books in the future. One of the things I loved about this book was how the male and female leads meet, it was almost exactly the same way my wife and I met so I laughed and smiled at that. The exploration of love at first sight from two people who had been hurt in the past was believable and fun. My one complaint is my most common one in the genre, "Anaconda Syndrome." A man does not have to be hung like a Blue Whale to be a great lover. . . . . .

4.0 out of 5 stars Paging Dr. Callahan.... January 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I picked this book up because it was free and was pleasantly surprised. So much so, that I couldn't put it down. While there were minor editing errors in the book, the story itself was well navigated and draws in the reader. Allie Marshall is the everyday, plain Jane girl. When she literaly bumps into Donovan Callahan, a chance encounter turns into the beginning of a romance. Donovan is plagued by ghosts from his past and seems to constantly wonder if he can get past them while Allie is plagued with insecurities. Allie has some ghosts that need to be exercised as well, so it will be interesting to see how the author handles the Matt and Claire characters in the next book. The chemistry between Allie and Donovan is combustible and makes the story even hotter.

I find this book a little to new young adult. The characters are ok but the writing is juvenile even though there is sex described but faintly. It lacks the grit and deep emotions. Read more

More About the Author

I'm a wife and mommy above all. I'm also a writer and an x-ray tech. I don't have much spare time and I wouldn't have it any other way. I fell in love with writing back in middle school. I loved to write short stories and poems. Then I got married and had a family, so my writing had to take a back burner. I finally got the time to start reading again, which in turn, ignited my love of writing all over again. I have done what I never thought I would do; publish a book and have people read it!
