I really do wish that it came with a step-by-step.
Amy
The wood was all delaminating, the pieces were cut wrong, I had to fix 70% of the parts with glue before putting them together.

We still haven't even tried to put it together because we can't figure out where to start.

I must respectfully disagree with the other post. There are instructions, but they're not easy. That's the enjoyment. On the back of the picture is an exact drawing of every sheet of wood you get. Each piece has numbers or letters. You fit 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc. It takes a bit to figure out what goes where. The sandpaper is a bit small. Some of the pieces do fall back out so I glue where needed. Some of the pieces are not easy to get out of the board and require a bit of help from an Exacto knife. I've built probably 20 of the kits from this manufacturer because they're fun. I wouldn't say a youngster could put them together but might be a fun project for a parent/child afternoon. This is a comparatively easy puzzle. For me, the scant instructions and the trial by dry fitting looking only at the numbers and the front photo are the enjoyment.

This is not a wooden heirloom, but look at the price.

The credit union where I work has an owl as our mascot. My 11 year old son and I put the owl together to display at the credit union. It was fun putting it together. The only complaint that I have is that the directions for putting the owl together and the numbers that corresponded with the pieces in the directions were WAY to small. At times the numbers were VERY hard to read. They need to make the print for the directions much bigger. That being said, the owl looks terrific and we've gotten a ton of compliments on it.

I make a LOT of these models, this was the WORST one I have ever come across. The wood was all delaminating, the pieces were cut wrong, I had to fix 70% of the parts with glue before putting them together. And had to recut a dozen or so since they were so badly damaged. It wasnt worth the effort to send it back, and it finally is done..... but it was JUNK!

This puzzle is so confusing. We still haven't even tried to put it together because we can't figure out where to start. Also, the wood chips and peels when you take the pieces out of the frame. Wish we hadn't bought it. My daughter is so disappointed!

This review is dictated by my 7 1/2 year old son, who is quite bright and patient, and received this as a gift.
"When I read these instructions, they said that I was supposed to follow the numbers, but some pieces matched and they had two different numbers--how was I supposed to tell which was which? And also it didn't have a step-by-step, it just tells you to look at the picture of the owl, but in the picture it only shows one side, and also there are some pieces that are so deep in the puzzle you have to look inside of the owl to know where they go. I wouldn't even recommend this for a very smart adult. It is totally impossible. I really do wish that it came with a step-by-step. They should at least tell you what to start with. Every time I try to start with something, it seems like I'm supposed to start with something else. Don't buy this!"

I love these things and the owl is the most complicated I've done so far. You just need a little patience when following instruction. If you'd like to challenge yourself: assemble without an instruction -- how a puzzle should be. Of all the hundreds of pieces, I had trouble with 2 that didn't fit in right (glue can easily fix that). So come on, that's quite impressive!

Kudos to the puzzle maker. I'm just disappointed at Amazon pricing. You can get the exact same thing at Michael's for $5.

Product arrived quickly. A very inexpensive way to spend an afternoon or evening with the kids or just to calm the nerves. Also great for gifts!
