The Owl Moon video delighted my two and a half year old grand-daughter. It contains three Caldecott stories: Owl Moon. Make Way for Ducklings, and Strega Nona. All are well done, but it is Owl Moon that stands out. We showed her this video before buying a copy of the book. The mood created by the video absolutely entranced and captivated her. She kept asking her daddy to tell her the owl moon story, so it led to buying the book. It is nice to see a video that leads to an interest in reading.

I find both the book and the video most magical. I just wish that the video was available on dvd, since I don't have the VHS player anymore.

Owl Moon, the classic Caldecott winner, has long been my favorite children's book. The story and the illustrations -- all pure magic in book form -- are dramatically accentuated in this Children's Circle video, more than worth the price just for Owl Moon alone. Author Jane Yolen's voice, sound effects, music, brilliant camera effects (pans, tilts, zooms, etc.) applied to the inspired art of John Schoenherr without in any way altering it. All this is storytelling at it most brilliant.
