This review is from: Owlboy: The Girl with the Destructo Touch (Paperback)
Ever had a little sister or younger neighbor? Yeah, the girl next door isn't always the stuff of romantic comedies. Sometimes, she's a pain in the neck!
Billy Hooten has to deal with Victoria, his next-door-neighbor. She's a sweet kid sometimes, sure, but when she tags after him or asks him a bunch of questions, she can be kinda annoying. Billy's secret identity as Owlboy, a superhero who protects Monstros City, is just that - a secret from all of his friends and family - until Victoria follows him underground and develops powers of her own! Uh-oh. Never trust a kid with the Destructo Touch. This is the second book in the Owlboy series by Thomas E. Sniegoski and Eric Powell. Sniegoski provides the words; Powell, the cool black-and-white illustrations. I frequently recommend this series to kids, especially young boys who are reluctant to pick up a novel but love reading comic books. The Girl with the Destructo Touch has just as much punch and funny bits as the first book in the series. I've always thought it would be fun to have telekinesis or some kind of zapping power! |
