From Booklist
This attractive volume from the Animals after Dark series introduces owls. After an illustrated glossary, short topical sections (usually on double-page spreads) present subjects such as "The Owl's History and Mystery," "Hunting and Eating," and "Raising Young." A typical spread includes a large, captioned photo of owls and three paragraphs of information, clearly presented in short sentences and printed in large type. Showing a variety of owl species, the color photos neatly illustrate the text. In keeping with the nocturnal theme of the series, most pages are black, with print appearing in a light-gold typeface. The book concludes with fast facts and short lists of books and Web sites. Phelan, Carolyn
