As an elementary school librarian, I have read Owly so many times, I could recite it. Always, it holds the children as if they were experiencing Owly's adventures in answering his own questions and, ultimately, hearing from his mother how much she loves him. Every child should hear Owly read to him by someone who loves him without limit.

When my son was a toddler reading him "Owly" was the best way for me to explain to him how very much he was loved.This simple story tells children, in measurements they understand, the boundless love of a parent. Seven years after first reading "Owly", whenever my son asks how much I love him, my immediate response is still "more than there are stars in the sky". Any child, regardless of age, should read this beautiful story.

This book is the best good-night book I ever read to my daughter - She always went to sleep with the warmest feeling of love I could hope for. Owly asks questions like any two year old, and the last being "how much do you love me mommy" - mommy answers to the effect that her love is wider than the oceans, more than the number of stars in the sky, etc. Very simple, very warm, very loving bedtime story.

MY BOYS ARE NOW 19 AND 15 AND I USED TO READ THEM THIS BOOK WHEN THEY WERE SMALL. ONE IS NOW IN AWAY IN COLLEGE, THE OTHER IS, WELL, 15. BUT WHENEVER WE SAY GOODNIGHT OR SO LONG WE WOULD SAY I LOVE YOU-----AS MANY STARS AS THERE ARE IN THE SKY, ETC. I AM NOW PREPARING FOR ANOTHER BABY AND I WANT TO SHARE THE SAME JOY THAT WE GET NOW. IT IS AN EXCELLENT BOOKS. HOLD ON TO THESE STORIES AND TREASURE YOUR CHILDREN. ENJOY, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

This is such a touching story that brings tears to my eyes every time I read it. It brings such joy to my daughter and I when we read it together that I always give it as a gift at baby showers that have the book wishing well. This is a must have for your childs library!

This book is my childhood, It's an amazing beautiful story, that I still quote when telling someone how much I love them.

I bought this book for a niece who is expecting a baby on 8/20/2011. I remember 1 of my sisters had this book for her kids and always thought it was great. Lukily I found the only new book on Amazon that was under $100.00. It needs to be published again as all the people at my niece's shower who read the book said they would love to have a copy in their collection.

This is a wonderful book. I love reading it to my 3 year old and he loves it. He picks it often for us to read. My husband loves it also and he just changes the mother to father. My son uses the language and the phrases all the time? I love you as deep as the ocean. Very sweet and endearing book. I've sent it to friends as gifts.

this book has such sentimental value to me and now even more recent. I read this book to my two sons when they were small. My BOYS are now men 26 and 22. My oldest son got married this pass weekend 7/11/2009 and during is vows he placed this book on my lap (the original one), I was fine until he did that. Later he told me that is how he feels about his bride! When you read this book you will understand. Even now we may end our conversation with..."I love you as many stars in the sky" etc. It is a wonderful book and i highly recommend it.

This book was one of my children's favorite books to be read to. They learned the same valuable lessons "Owly" did. After they learned them both my kids and I used the most valuable lesson in the book and applied this to our daily lives. So we all knew the answer to "How much do you love me?" And most every time we all would give the exact answer that Owly got. We used this communication until the boys moved out of the house. These memories I'll cherish forever.
