Makes the transition from crib to bed a piece of cake!,
By A Customer
This review is from: My Own Big Bed (Hardcover)
We bought this book for our daughter about a month before we were going to move her from her crib to her new "big girl bed". We've heard horror stories from other parents who experienced many sleepless nights when they tried to put their child in a regular bed. After reading her this book for about a month, we finally put her new bed in her room and it was a success! She slept the whole night and the night after that and so on! She never climbed out of her crib but we wanted to move her to a big bed (not a toddler bed) before she became too attached to her crib. She'll be 2 in a few days. Buy this book--it's GREAT!!! Good Luck!

This book was given to my two year old daughter to transition her out of her crib. It did exactly that. She was very interested in sleeping in her big bed after reading this book.

No Better For Big Bed Transitioning!,
This review is from: My Own Big Bed (Hardcover)
I also bought an Elmo big bed book, and a Barney big bed book because these were characters my daughter knows...to my surprise, when choosing a book to read at night, she ALWAYS picked up this book. We practiced the things that the little girl in the book does together (i.e. in a big bed you can stretch your arms out wide with no bars to get in the way), and when it came time for the big bed, my daughter jumped in and stretched out her arms. (Although the other two are good too), She seemed to understand more what this book was trying to explain than the other two. In addition to talking about how fun a big girl bed was going to be, we read this book for a week before going to a big bed. Our big bed transition went smoothly and without a hitch!!!

A Great Aid in Making the Transition to a Big Bed,
By Stephanie (Herndon, VA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: My Own Big Bed (Hardcover)
I bought this book for my 2 yr. old son about a month before moving him from his crib to his "Big Boy Bed." I had really wanted to find a book that centered the story around a little boy, but after reading about the book & reading other reviews I decided to give it a try. I read it to him for that month & he really seemed to identify with the story. He was very excited about moving into his new bed & new "Big Boy Room." He's been sleeping there for a month now, & the transition couldn't have been smoother! This book really helped to prepare him for the change from crib to bed! The simple story & pictures made it very easy for him to grasp the concept! I highly recommend this book!

Another well-done book by Anna Grossnickle Hines! Beautiful illustrations, too. Pair this with Della Ross Ferreri's book, HOW WILL I EVER SLEEP IN THIS BED? or one of the Barney or Elmo books on this topic to help your toddler adjust to the transition of a big-kid bed.

Price is showing up wrong on the site!,
This review is from: My Own Big Bed (Hardcover)
Seems like a good book from what I'm reading in the comments. Sorry this isn't a real review... But I didn't know where else to ask about the pricing for this book, but it is apparently listed wrong. This book does NOT cost more than $17 or so, max. It is listed for about $138.65! Please someone at Amazon notice this please. I'd like to order this book from Amazon.

When I read it, I thought it was an average read, but my son really liked it. He was scared in his big bed and we got this to try and make him like it / overcome whatever it was that was troubling him. He took to the book straight away and we read it lots in the first week or so and he did start to sleep better. He always refers to his bed as 'my own big bed' and he repeats things from the book like 'I can get in and get out all by myself'. So obviously had an impact. I'm not saying this book solved the problems we were having completely but I would certainly say it helped.

We bought this for our 2 year-old daughter who was about to move into a toddler bed. She seemed to understand the different questions raised by the book (What if I get scared? What if I fall out? What if I get lonely?) and "buy into" the idea that it's worth it to have a "big girl bed", even though it takes some adjusting to.

We purchased 2 other similar books along with this one. The other two featured characters she knew, so she seems to be enjoying them better. She will not sit through this entire book. Good concept and great story, just didn't keep my 2 year olds attention as well as others.
