Book Description

Too hot to handle . . .

Tabitha Allen grew up in the thick of Chaos-the Chaos Motorcycle Club, that is. Her father is Chaos' leader, and the club has always had her back. But one rider was different from the start. When Tabby was running wild, Shy Cage was there. When tragedy tore her life apart, he helped her piece it back together. And now, Tabby's thinking about much more than friendship . . .

Tabby is everything Shy's ever wanted, but everything he thinks he can't have. She's beautiful, smart, and as his friend's daughter, untouchable. Shy never expected more than friendship, so when Tabby indicates she wants more-much more-he feels like the luckiest man alive. But even lucky men can crash and burn . . .

Editorial Reviews

"There is something about them [Ashley's books] that I find crackalicious."
( Kati Brown 2012)

"I felt all of the rushes, the adrenaline surges, the anger spikes... my heart pumping in fury. My eyes tearing up when my heart (I mean... her heart) would break." (On Motorcycle Man)
( Maryse's Book Blog 2012)

About the Author

Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake.

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

3.0 out of 5 stars Et Tu KA??? April 2, 2013
By MsTalie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I gave this 3 stars out of a sense of loyalty, but really, this is getting ridiculous. KA has held reigning title as absolute FAVE author, for quite sometime. But with her last 3 releases, I'm starting to forget why. Truthfully if I had started reading her at Creed, Raid or OTW..I wouldn't have bothered to read anything else.
Where's the struggle? Where's the gut wrenching emotional trauma? Where's the fierce (sometimes gruesome)action sequences?
She used to create these scenarios, and character development, and deeply painful moments of vulnerability. Her books used to be about something other than a never ending stream of the same sex scenes that we've already read in every other book.

By my count there were several different places where an actual plot point could have happened:
*Shy's Parents (really...just wasn't worth some more pages?), his brother is in the military (like that's not scary),and I'm sorry but I think both Rosalie and the fiance situations could have certainly carried more script and garnered an emotional reaction if some development had gone into it, if she had bothered to allow Tabby some insecurity. Motorcycle Man, same general situation with another woman comes into play, and we get to see how that plays out in Tyra's head, the kind of insecurity and hurt it causes her and we get to watch Tack help her deal. And she just glosses the whole thing over. And why in God's name is Shy not a wreck? Why can't we see him struggle to try and pull his hot-messedness together?

Her last 3 books content have all been cut in half, I'm really starting to wonder if (gasp and shudder) she isn't just tossing these to the publisher to get a check. I know, I know...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed - maybe I expected too much. April 6, 2013
By karen g
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
"I was concerned when I heard KA had been picked up by a publisher and as it turned out I was right. This read more like the outline of a KA novel. Where is the unedited version? That is what I want to read. Where is the grittiness and the emotion, the angst? What we got was a publishing house cookie cutter romance. Nothing here to make it stand out from the thousands of mediocre books already out there. I pre-ordered this book (something which I rarely do) and was sorry I did. Next time I will wait until all the reviews come and decide from there. Normally we live the book right along with the H and h and feel what they experience and in doing so they become a part of us. It is rare that an author has that writing ability. Unfortunately, none of those qualities were evident in this book. There were big gaps in time to move the story forward as well as large sections of narration thrown in just to dump information. I believe Shy and Tabby's story should have been so much better than this. This read more like a novella dump to sell the next book in the series. I can't believe this is the same author that gave us Tate/Laurie, Ty/Lexie, and Tack/Tyra as well as the many other great KA stories. Not only was this book much shorter there was way too much time devoted to Hop and Lanie. I hate when an author does this. Have you ever had trouble selling your next book? At 92% on my Kindle, we get a preview of Hop and Lanie's story as if this book wasn't short enough.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as other Chaos' April 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I had pre-ordered this one and guess I was expecting a better book. It's good but I think Motorcycle Man (The Dream Man Series) was much better. I still love Kristen Ashley and this is not a bad read it's just that I had waited for so long and it just didn't live up to my expectation's.

3.0 out of 5 stars Didn't Do It For Me April 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I hate to do this because I really like Kristen Ashley. Own the Wind just didn't do it for me. I think I may be on a KA overload. I have read most of her books and I am tired of the dialogue. Like "want your mouth". That kind of speak was sexy coming from Tack and Hawk, but everybody just can't be that way. All of these men are the same and I think I'm tired of it.

You should read the dream man series before reading this book - especially Motorcycle Man. Motocycle Man was my absolute favorite book from Kristen. Tabby is the daughter of Tack from Motorcycle Man. She ends up with the guy that she had a crush on since she was 16. Now she is all grown up. They go through the usual and finally end up together. There is drama and badassness everywhere.

I was hoping that Shy would be a little different. Maybe use complete sentences with pronouns. Not those long run on sentences that leave me thinking what the heck did he say. I think he could still be tough if he articulated better.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna take a break from KA for a while. Although, I love her for some reason and I think she is a fab author.

I'm sure I will end up reading Hop and Lanie's story

3.0 out of 5 stars Where is Kristen Ashley's signature writing????? April 7, 2013
By Lettee
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I gotta say, I am a little disappointed in this book. I had HUGE expectations in getting this book then was let down. I kept waiting for Kristen Ashley's signature writing. Like say: HUMOR?! Detailed suspense, action and a plot that made you stand on end with anxiety to see where it was going to take you. Don't get me wrong, this book still had it's good points. There's a dominant HOT male. You have a strong female for him. A decent storyline and all, but it just seem to be missing that Umph her books normally have. Not to mention the sex scenes were repetitious. I am not a fan of extensive sex scene writing but these scenes seemed to be used as filler.

Even though this was a little bit of a disappointment it overall was a decent read. As for recommending it? I'm on the fence. I am not trying to be rude, but if you aren't looking for Kristen's signature humored reads or a nail biting plot, then you will enjoy this one. Either way, I will still continue to get and read her work. With that being said, I am still looking forward to the next installment with Hop and Lanie.

3.0 out of 5 stars This is not Kristen Ashley as we know and love from the Dream Man...
Kind of anticlimactic. No real tension or drama. This is not Kristen Ashley as we know and love from the Dream Man series or even Rock Chick. Kinda blah.

More About the Author

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen's Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing's changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she's blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Her books are the best!!
Yes they are. I have read all of them as well. I love all her series and her stand alone books. I have to reread them all the time because I find myself craving her writing style and the characters she creates. I would love nothing more than to sit down with her and talk all night, she has to be... Read More
