Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

Part of leaving childhood behind is sorting through the things you've accumulated over the first eighteen years of your life and deciding what to keep and what to throw out. The same thing is true for making choices about your relationship with God. How can you learn to think for yourself and make your faith your own--not the faith of your parents, youth leaders, or pastor? This insightful yet humorous guide will lead you through the process of grappling with and living out your convictions in a postmodern world. The "faith of your fathers" will become a "faith of your own" through four key sections: THINK - Wrestle with the big questions of life and think through the issues KNOW - Move from duty to desire in your relationship with God and find a more mature faith that goes beyond emotional experiences CONNECT - Know you are not alone by getting connected with others who share your passion SERVE - Make your faith real with words and actions Find out whose Jesus you have, and make your faith your own.

5.0 out of 5 stars most profound book for all, July 10, 2009
This review is from: Own Your Faith: The Adventure of Following Christ in College (Paperback)
I am a youth leader at my church and discovered this book in a book store. I picked it up and just could not put it down. It became a curriculum base for our youth retreat camp 2 summers in a row and I ordered over 30 of them. It sunk deep to the roots of taking full ownership of your faith and why God deserves and expects us to give our lives to Him 100%. Not only a must book for youth but a must book for all!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read, June 7, 2007
This review is from: Own Your Faith: The Adventure of Following Christ in College (Paperback)
I read this book in one sitting. It is a must read for any high school graduate - not just those going to college. Tabb does a great job identifying the strange feelings that everyone experiences as they transition from high school to adulthood, and the process of making a faith that has been shared by many - thier own. Parents and youth pastors should read this book as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended for Christians of all walks of life, not just those about to begin college., July 8, 2007
This review is from: Own Your Faith: The Adventure of Following Christ in College (Paperback)
Written by 2004 Gold Medallion finalist Mark Tabb, Own Your Faith: The Adventure of Following Christ in College is a guide for college students to the sticky problems of living out one's religious beliefs in an increasingly secular postmodern world. Chapters discuss learning to embrace faith in God through thinking for oneself, rather than simply accepting beliefs spoon-fed by others; the value of forming connections; preparing for "the inevitable storms that will confront your faith"; and much more. "The difference between being told what to think and learning how to think is the difference between a faith that is your own and one that is nothing more than an extension of those who programmed your mind. How can you tell which you have? You've already experienced the difference in your relationship with every math student's best friend, Bob, aka, Mr. Back of the Book. When brains lock up and an answer is nowhere to be found, Bob comes to the rescue... as long as the problem has an odd number." Highly recommended for Christians of all walks of life, not just those about to begin college.
