Book Description

July 2003
BDSM Fantasy Erotica. A story of unconditional slavery, told from inside a woman's bound and naked skin.

Far in the future exists a world of men, a planet where the only women are rare and exotic pets. These few women, convicted of crimes, have chosen their punishment: slavery on Henth. The few men who buy them know what they are getting: eager submissives, willing to accept the status of animals in order to be owned by men. Etrin is a young woman who makes this choice; Garid is the man who buys her. Their story is one of dominance and submission taken as far as the imagination can go.

Long prior to the time of the book, Henth's colonizers split along gender lines, and the women removed themselves to a separate planet. The two societies have almost lost sight and memory of each other, except for the rare occasions when a woman chooses slavery on Henth over the alternative punishment on her home planet. Driven by a deep need for submission, Etrin pushes her misbehaviour year after year, knowing that she ll eventually be sent to Henth.

When finally convicted and sentenced for her crimes, the bound Etrin is overwhelmed by her first contact with the men on the planet Henth. Soon transferred to the care of animal handlers, she is caged for transport along with the other exotic pets, and prepared for the auction that will determine her new owner. Once Garid purchases his new pet, Etrin goes through stages of acceptance and the relinquishment of self as she faces the strict demands required of her. Meanwhile, Garid, driven and possessive, establishes a sense of ownership strong enough that he is finally able to share her. Readers learn of Etrin's struggles in the form of first-person introspection, and Garid's as he talks with his friend Therin, another dominant.

This beautifully crafted novel delves deeply into the psychology and emotions associated with dominance and submission. Graphic sexual content.

3.0 out of 5 stars More extreme than I was expecting, but beautifully written and intriguing, December 28, 2009

This review is from: Owned And Owner (Paperback)
I bought this book because I found the premise--a woman being sent to a planet populated entirely by men to serve as a sexual slave--irresistable. It wasn't quite what I was expecting, however, and while I certainly found it interesting, I may not have purchased it if I understood exacrlt what I was getting better. But that being said, I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who will love it, and it might be worth a read if you find the idea intriguing.

The reason I found this book to fall somewhat short of my expectations was because it wasn't just about sexual slavery, but a very extreme form of pet play. More than just a slave, Etrin is basically turned into a human animal, intensified by the fact that she doesn't know her owner's language and is not allowed to speak (which made of a dearth of sexy dialogue--one thing I like in good erotica). Garid treats her very very brutally, which is ultimately what she needs and what she was looking for when she purposefully got herself enslaved--the descriptions of her punishments and how she was treated are certainly interesting, but many of them went far beyond what I find erotic and sensual, so that was a drawback for me as well. Personally, if I'm going to read about someone who is made into a pet, I'd prefer to see a more cherished and pampered pet, as well as the punishments--this is mostly one cruel punishment after another.

Anyway, despite the things that disappointed me, this book certainly kept my attention, even if it wasn't as arousing as I like my erotica to be (I can't say there was nothing arousing about it at all though!). So if the above sounds like something that interests you, go for it! The writing is beautiful and some people will love it, I just wanted people to have a good idea of what they are in for!

5.0 out of 5 stars Owned and Owner is mind caviar, December 19, 2003

Most Sci-fi and Fantasy genere will fall respectively into my least favorite category of reading. Jacob's book is not over powered with futuristic gobblie-gook, it is a subtle seasoning that does not interfere with the story. I was actually impressed with the originality of the setting. Jacob successfully found an unconventional way to project the mental and emotional battle of the Etrin's secret desires. She accurately revealed her subject's feelings of isolation and fear of discovery and resulting consequences.
A good book touches you on an emotional level, good writing does not get in the way of the story, Anneke Jacob achieved both objectives in Owned and Owner.
I was totally sucked into Etrin's harsh training and marveled how Jacob showed the justifiable psychology behind the cruel appearance of slave training in an accurate light.
Jacob writes an intensely realistic story of consensual slavery and power exchange where the fantasy setting is the only thing that reminds the reader it's fiction. Owned and Owner is an exceedingly erotic read - If you get off on sexual - sadomasochistic domination you will not be disappointed with the menagerie of scenes between the Henth community of owners and their slaves. If you enjoy intelligent BDSM Owned and Owner is mind caviar.
This book is bound (no pun intended) to be a classic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not at all what I expected., August 23, 2011

Well written? Yes. Erotic? Parts of it, yes.

I found this story a study in dehumanization and cruel conditioning, replete with months of strict bondage, months of orgasm denial; withholding of affection or any sort of human connection, denying speech or language usage and turning this woman who wanted to be a submissive slave into less than a dog.

I'm into BDSM, but not dehumanization and particularly NOT pony play. I'd like my money back because had I known this book was about the dehumanization process and strict orgasm denial I would NEVER have purchased it.

Do you rate a book based on how it makes you feel? How well it's written? How well it conveys the idea and mood the author wishes to explore? I'm not sure but I'll never read this author again.
