For those only wanting an introduction to the breed, the book is useful. If you already know a great deal about CKCS, skip this book--it lacks depth.

I suppose if you know absolutely nothing about Cavaliers this book might be somewhat helpful (although there are several others that would, even so, be MORE helpful). All in all, I found this book to be disappointing. Information is minimal and superficial. I might recommend it as a child's book, but other than that, I suggest you pass. Other books cover Cavaliers much better.

Helpful in explaining our dog to us. The housetraining part did the trick for us. We were having trouble and now no more accidents.Good advice on alot of stuff. We love our little cav.

This is a typical breeder's vanity book. It has some valuable information, but it is downplays the very important health issues. Cavaliers suffer from major hereditary diseases, such as mitral valve heart disease, the leading killer of the breed, which afflicts over half of all Cavaliers by age 5 years and nearly all Cavaliers by age 10 years, and hip dysplasia, which afflicts over 20% of all Cavaliers and can cause terrible pain and debilitation, and syringomyelia, which causes severe head and neck pain and paralysis to a growing number of Cavaliers. www.CavalierHealth.org

Wife and I are looking for a CKCS and ran across this book used on Amazon. WOW- It coveres just about everything one would want to know about the breed. Its not a novel but gives a great insite on what one can expect owing and careing for the breed. It gives basic info on history, characteristics, selecting, grooming,house training, health care and much more. You have to get this book just to see the photos, as they did an outstanding job in photography. If you are anticipating getting a CKCS puppy or already have one this book is for you !!!

I found this book to be very well written and easy to understand. Mrs. Johnson-Snyder touches on every facet of owning/acquiring a cavalier. This book is 100% cavaliers. I love the pictures too!

I think this book is a must have for anyone interested in this breed and wanting more information. She talks about the history, the health, the care and lots of cute pictures. My mate and I both read it cover to cover and found it very informative and helpful.

A well written book, easy to read and comprehend. Points out the advantages of owning a CKCS. A good book for a potential owner to read before obtaining the puppy.Children will understand this book.

I will soon be an owner of a Cavalier - and I thought this was a very helpful book! I recommend it!
