5.0 out of 5 stars A must buy for the new father, July 2, 2000
This review is from: An Owner's Guide to Fatherhood: A Lighthearted Look at the Days of a Dad (Hardcover)
While waiting for my child to be born many folks bought books for my wife and I, a few were written for the father to be. An Owner's Guide to Fatherhood : Living With Children and Other Creatures was by far the best book of the bunch.

Each section starts with a very small snippet of scripture, it then proceeds with many funny stories about raising children.

Some of the suggestions found in the book are: Instead of buying a dog, go to the garage and beat your self with a 2x4 because the pain will be much less and it will be far less expensive.

Now don't take this out of context, you have to read what happened to the author for him to say this. You will laugh for hours while you read.

Also, kids say the strangest things. You can read about when the authors daughter interrupted Mass and went "on and on" talking.

Or the family trips, with the familiar "are we there yet?".

Some of the stories sound familiar, such as the long car trips. But this makes them even funnier since we can all relate to them.

But others are very unique and funny. Such as when the authors son fixed the door. He never did get his Girl Scout cookies that year. :0 Or find the screwdriver.

Each chapter then ends with a brief summary and short prayer.

I can't think of a better book to buy a new dad. The combination of faith and laughter make this book a joy that I will treasure for years as I create my own stories with my newborn gift from God.
