What is the book supposed to provide: a detailed repair "shop" manual for each of the titled cars. Clear and accurate information through discription, direction and drawings or photos, procedures to repair, maintain or restore any of the 2 cylinder Honda Cars. What I found in working with the book; following its directions and maintenance discriptions to the letter or as close as they came, I found the following -

1. Many of the photos are reprints from the factory service manual, this would be a good way to complement the manufactures writings however none of the notes that go with the photos were available in the Haynes book. Several of the photos were reversed in the printing of the factory shop manual and Haynes just copied them. In the Engine rebuild area several of the bolts are missing in the head torque sequence. The manual is further confusing when referring to the 360cc engine and the N600 engine. Some of the photos are intermixed with the other. Such is the case with the N600 Hondamatic engine and the standard engine casings. None of the information relates to vehicles built after 1970 yet the manual implies that all vehicles are covered. The electrical diagrams only follow the sedan and give nothing on the Coupe. Any one purchasing this book will be taking chances in causing serious damage to their vehicle and normally put oil pump rods in backwards, missing oil seals at the base of the piston cylinders and miss-torque the head.

As the head of the Honda 600 Roster of Owners, I have come in contact with many Honda 600 car owners all over the world. The Haynes Owner Workshop Manual is at best better than no book at all. However there are short comings in the area of engine rebuild and problem areas during oil pump assembly, cylinder assembly and head bolt torque sequence. Haynes Co. has sent corrections if asked...
