We can be very grateful that Mr. Fischoff has arrived just in time to lay the groundwork for what promises to be an encouraging time for gentle, intelligent, emotionally honest, and beautiful music. What was I thinking? I think I heard a brief review of this material on NPR and it sounded interesting. I was mistaken. This is one of the most boring pieces I have ever listened to. I suppose it is just not for me. However, I think I could add some criticism that is not at all based on my personal tastes.

We can be very grateful that Mr. Fischoff has arrived just in time to lay the groundwork for what promises to be an encouraging time for gentle, intelligent, emotionally honest, and beautiful music. In an age where technology is used redundantly in popular music, here is an artist who uses both analog and digital tools towards the communication of a strong emotional reality. This is a great record that owes as much to Raymond Carver as it does to the music of the past several decades.

Past Fischoff fans will be ecstatic; new Fischoff fans will grow and grow. A great evolutionary record long in the waiting, it retains the honesty and intimacy of "Winston Park" and the earlier recordings, while tackling exciting new territory in terms of structure, harmony/melody, rhythm, etc. Bold, ambitious, and just plain great.
