Product Description

This is one of the finest available wood bleaching agents. Use it to lighten dark streaks and colorations in wood so it will stain to a uniform color. It's also an effective rust and stain remover that works to remove many water stains, chemical stains and dirt where milder bleaching agents fail. It's not as harsh as the two-part bleaches, and results in a more even color when bleaching smaller surfaces. With Oxalic Acid, wood will retain more of it's original character. It comes in powder form as dry crystals, and must be mixed in hot water. Use only on bare wood. 16 oz. box.

5.0 out of 5 stars works great March 24, 2013

When refinishing our stairs, after we took our carpet up, we noticed some black spots and other blemishes. After stripping the wood, we used oxalic acid and it worked great. It was a great way to prep our steps and remove any marks on the wood before staining. Two suggestions: One is that you have borax on hand since that is a step after using the oxalic acid. And two, make sure that you use heavy gloves and eye protection. This stuff works great but is nasty.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not for evening out colors in poplar August 29, 2010

It did not lighten darker areas of poplar as I had hoped.
No complaints about packaging or shipping.

Update: I tried it on some oak doors that had black spots where water penetrated the finish, and it worked pretty well at making those spots lighter.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed in the product September 13, 2013

I bought the product to bleach dark stains from my hardwood floors. It didn't remove or lighten any of the stains
caused by dog urine. It did lighten some of the stains left where there were water rings from plant stands the previous renters had let overflow on the floor. So I still have many dark stains that can't be removed - by oxalic acid or by sanding.

I had to strip the old wooden floor in my sons room. The stains that the stripper couldn't get off the floor this stuff did the job! There was water stains from the previous owner that I just couldn't get out, a few coats of this stuff and it looked great! I highly recommend this item!

5.0 out of 5 stars oxalic acid October 25, 2008
By WOK
It was a box of oxalic acid crystals, exactly what it was supposed to be. The pleasant surprise was that it arrived only three days after I ordered it.
