5.0 out of 5 stars a deceptively large amount
Nine pounds doesn't sound like much, but believe me, it's a LOT of hay. I have one rabbit about 6-8lbs. He grazes on Timothy Hay all day long and the 9lb bag lasts him almost 6 months. I have two air-tight dog food containers I use to store his hay so it's always fresh when I refill his hay feed bale. Oxbow grows great hay, but make sure you have some air-tight...

but lately we've gotten a number of batches that seem a bit off. One was very dusty and smelled off, a few seem like they've not been cured long enough. Oxbow is very good about offering a solution of some sort, be it sending money or product back, but quality here seems to have slipped a bit over the past two years.

Pet Food Direct is wonderful, however...

I have six guinea pigs and they go through a lot of timothy hay! Oxbow makes and sells high quality products and come highly recommended by our vet. The value for the price can't be beat. I have paid more than double this price buying similar products at local pet stores.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oxbow Hay for Bunnies! The BEST, September 16, 2006
This review is from: Oxbow Western Timothy Hay 9-lb bag (Misc.)
After trying several different Timothy hay for my pet rabbits, I've found this Oxbow Hay to be the absolute best in quality. The stalks are long, hearty, and always fresh. You don't get that stringy, dusty residue that other brands fill the package with. Even when the bunnies are sick, this brand is vet. recommended for optimal health and quality. Even my bunnies, who tend to be quite finicky with their foods, know and love the great tasting Oxbow Hay. I'ts the only one I'll buy for them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Oxbow Tim Hay -- still fresh as always, June 29, 2006

I rated Oxbow's hay as only 4 stars because the batch I got must be 1st cutting. Although it maintains Oxbow's standards of fresh, clean hay, it is thick, long, and rough. Second cutting hay is much finer and softer.

5.0 out of 5 stars My guinea pigs love this hay!, October 16, 2004

I have tried other brands, but my guinea pigs love Oxbow the best. It's much fresher than the brands you find in pet stores. My cavies eat this stuff like crazy and will hardly touch the other ones I've tried. Also, the 9 lb. size is much cheaper than buying the smaller bales at Walmart, and it lasts for months. All you need is one of the large air-tight storage containers to keep it in. I got mine at Lowe's for 10 dollars and it holds exactly nine pounds of hay.
