I just picked up the app today and have only had a little time to play with it. As others have said, the pronunciation is helpful and the fact that you can use it offline is a huge bonus.

The main point that I want to get across is that the size listed on the app page is misleading. Is the initial download 4.1mb? Yes, it is. However you need to download and additional 444mb the first time you use the app.

Just keep in mind that you need to have a lot more space available on your phone then 4.1mb and that before you plan on using the app, you'll need to go through a lengthy download process. (preferably on wifi which is faster and won't use any of your phones data plan)

EDIT:
I've spent more time with this app, so I wanted to flesh out this review.

Features that make this better then a paper dictionary:
-Spoken pronunciation of words. Either American or British English.
-Touch any word in a definition and it will take you to the definition of the new word. A 'back' key makes it easy to return to the original definition.
-You don't have to know the exact spelling. App will try to figure out what you mean, but you have to be close.
-Can speak the word you want to find. When I touch the search box, it brings up my phones keyboard. I don't know if all phones are like this, but mine has a button to use Voice to Text which will put the word in for me. I am a terrible speller, so this is useful from time to time. I can use this feature offline, but it is far more accurate with a data connection available.
-Easily find synonyms and antonyms with a couple taps.
-Gives idioms for some words. Very helpful for those leaning English. For example, if you look up "elephant" it will give you the definition for the animal.

I suffer from the CRS (Can't Remember Sh... Something) desease. Oh wait, did I spell 'desease' correctly? That's why I frequently need to check my spelling using a dictionary. Previously I have tried many dictionary apps, including:
Dictionary - Merriam-Webster,
Oxford Dictionary of English with Audio,
Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English 5 - Audio Edition, etc.

The problem is, none of them offer a decent spelling suggestion function for the words I entered. If I spell just one letter wrong, all I get is a blank screen looking back at me. This makes them useless for my intended application.

Finally I found this Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary, 8th edition app, which actually gives me spelling suggestions. This works out great for my needs. For examples: I can type in words such as 'desease', 'pnumatic' and 'pronouncation'. The OALD correctly suggests words like 'disease', 'pneumatic' and 'pronunciation'. The other apps still give me the same blank stare.

Audio:
The main attraction of this OALD app is that it offers both American and British pronunciations for each word. Even the usage sentences are spoken in both flavors. It is fun for me to try out both versions and heard the differences - even though most people probably don't care about it.

A decent basic dictionary with easy to understand definitions, however nowhere near as comprehensive as the full Oxford's. I have looked for several words that just aren't there.

App requires a 444MB download, which in itself isn't so bad.

I have a Galaxy S3, which has both the phony "internal SD" and actual external SD cards. This app provides NO support whatsoever for downloading the external data to my actual SD card, only the internal one which is just another name for the internal storage. This is way too much extra data to keep on my internal storage, so this app needs to go.

A great app to help kids and adults to learn new words and their meanings. Most kids will not pick up a dictionary in book form but give it to them in app form and they will be more likely to use it. Nothing will ever beat holding a book but the app version will serve just as well to get kids to want to learn. Worth getting to help kids learn and not just play video games 24/7. I have used this almost everyday to quiz the kids and see what they learn. Great to use during school work so you can continue reading and not wonder what that word means you didn't understand.

My HTC recently updated to Android 6.0. Now the Oxford dictionary and several other Amazon apps won't open. I get a strange message about my network when opening the app and it shuts down. I like the dictionary, I hope it can be fixed.

I LOVE IT! I Love how they pronounce the word for you and the accents are awesome!

I LOVE the fact you can have this app instantly to your phone!

The BEST part of all, you do not need an internet connection to use it.

This is a GREAT app to have if English is your 2nd language.

Worth every penny :)
