Being really happy with other tomes from the 'Oxford' series, this one was definitely a disappointment. The photos look like bad black-and-white photocopies. And there aren't nearly enough of them. (Well, if they're going to be such poor quality, maybe there ARE enough!) Articles on topics I actually know something about had numerous errors, which makes me doubt articles on instruments about which I know nothing. And articles on non-western instruments are hit and miss--it has a reasonably long article on gamelan, but too many other instruments I spot-checked (like the 'oud') have no article at all.
