Product Description
Made of dense and heavy shorea wood, this Classic Side Chair is ideal for rugged outdoor areas. It is very sturdy yet graceful. Our side chair is very ample in width and makes an excellent dining table chairg. This chair is made of shorea, a teak family wood that is more dense and heavy than teak. Shorea requires no finishing and will not rot when left outdoors where rain and sun will damage other lesser quality woods. Left untreated, shorea will weather to a soft warm shade of gray similar to the weathering of teak. Sturdy mortise and tenon construction provides the highest quality joinery that will last for many years. Original color can be maintained by applying a seasonal coat of teak oil.

We ordered 4 of these chairs, and two had legs that were uneven!!! When we applied the recommended teak oil on the first chair, we found about twenty areas on the seat and one on the back where wood putty had been applied. The stain made these spots JUMP out at you--and now that they are put together, it is too late to return. The only saving grace is that we bought cushions to cover the seat but that won't help the back. I would never purchase anything this large that is difficult to return again!! What a major disappointment.

Oxford Gardens high quality product is worth a few extra dollars. This furniture is made from Vietnamese hardwood and stands up to weather and insects. Low cost pine and cedar furniture is much much lighter and less dense and needs oil and maintanance to last. I've also found Oxford Gardens customer service to be outstanding. It's a shame the prior reviewer didn't just call to have her chairs replaced or fixed.
