5.0 out of 5 stars WOW..now that is sturdy!
These chairs, I bought 4, have the wieght that Adirondack Chairs SHOULD have! They are very heavy - so I am sure they will not ever blow away. The wood has a wonderful grain and smooth finish...best to teak oil them and then they'll look like a million bucks for a LONG time. The construction is tight and sturdy with durable bolts.... the assembly is a bit of a pain in...

3.0 out of 5 stars Very Difficult Leg Assembly
Good chair, but do not buy if you are not patient and REALLY like to assembly things out of the box. The drilled bolt holes have been poorly engineered in Vietnam and are very difficult to line up for the assembly.

Good sitting and proportion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Assembly, December 31, 2002

I couldn't believe how easy it is to assemble this chair. All the pre-drill holes lined up nicely and the 14 screws goes in easily. I was able to assemble the entire chair in less than 5 minutes. Even faster than assembling a bookshelf.

Since it been raining outside, haven't had a chance to try it outdoor. But as a temperary indoor chair, it is quite relaxing sitting on it to watch tv.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!, March 15, 2006

Oxford Gardens high quality product is worth a few extra dollars. This furniture is made from Vietnamese hardwood and stands up to weather and insects. Low cost pine and cedar furniture is much much lighter and less dense and needs oil and maintanance to last. I've also found Oxford Gardens customer service to be outstanding. It's a shame the prior reviewer didn't just call to have her chairs replaced or fixed.

I looked everywhere for thsi classic Adirondack Chair. Amazon was the last place I looked, I was desperate and I found this chair and snapped it up.
This chair exceeded my expectations in all ways. It is well made, easy to put together and arrived in two days for $7 in shipping. The wood is beautiful with a very nice smooth hand.
I purchased one as a gift and will get another!

I chose this chair over other Adirondacks because of the good reviews on Amazon, and I was not disappointed. The chair is sturdy, handsome, comfortable and easy-to-assemble. One of the two chairs I ordered was slightly damaged in shipping, but the return/replacement process was easy, quick (and free!). I am very happy with the chairs and very impressed by the customer service.

I am quite pleased with the quality of this product. The wood is heavy and the assembly uses metal insets in the wood for the screws.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, beautiful chair; a classic, February 20, 2001
This review is from: Oxford Garden Shorea Adirondack Chair (Lawn & Patio)
This chair will endure in more than one way; it's made of a very sturdy and durable wood (shorea.) With the judicious application of teak oil, the chair can weather anything (well, nearly anything. I'll be putting ours down in the cellar away from the snow.) It's easy to assemble and looks great.

The style is classic, the arms wide, good for holding a cool drink as you enjoy a summer evening. And they look nice with teak benches. What's not to like?

I purchased 4 of these chair. The quality control is horrible. One in 5 holes lined up, making the chairs difficult to assemble. In addition, one chair arrived with the front facing board broken.

1.0 out of 5 stars Living Hell with an Allen Wrench, and Rust on my Patio, August 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oxford Garden Shorea Adirondack Chair (Lawn & Patio)
I have a swimming pool and an extensive patio, and I own a lot of outdoor teak. This chair is made from "shorea" wood, which is NOT teak, and while one would not expect to get a quality teak chair for this price, one would also not expect to get such a substandard piece of furniture at any price. The product arrived covered in powdery sawdust. Do not open the package indoors. This chair took the concept of "some assembly required" to new lows. The printed assembly instructions do not match the furniture. If you have large hands, you will probably need to get assistance in order to turn the allen wrench because you will find yourself working in very, very tight corners underneath the seat frame. The holes and cutouts do not line up at all - holes in matching pieces are haphazardly drilled. I needed a drill, as well as a saw, mallet and chisel, to make the parts fit together. Expect to spend a considerable amount of time sanding the chair. One of the two I bought was covered in little splinters. All together the assembly of my two chairs took two adults three hours.

Once assembled and placed, I found that the armrests are not quite level, and that the seat back leans too far back for comfortable "heads up" conversation. Maybe this will be better once I put cushions on it.

Next time, I will buy teak and I will buy it from a local dealer, where I can see the product I am getting before I pay for it.

Here is an addendum to the review, added after the chairs sat in my garden for a few days and encountered the first rainfall. The pre-assembled parts are fastened with ferrous screws. As a result, I now have ugly rust stains on my white concrete patio. These chairs are not suitable for outdoor use if they are placed in an area that might expose them to moisture. I have wasted my money and I will have to throw them away. Hope this review can save someone from a similar experience.
