Book Description

The overall structure of this handbook is similar to that of the British National Formulary, with monographs arranged broadly by therapeutic category. When a drug has several different uses, these are brought together in a single monograph; this will allow the reader to appreciate in full range of actions, whether therapeutic or adverse. The safe and effective use of medicines requires a sound knowledge of pharmacology. When a drug illustrates a particular pharmacological principle, this is expanded on in the teaching point section at the end of the monograph. As readers use the book, they will increase their basic knowledge in this practical way.

Review

This is an ideal book to have ... and quickly refer to while on the wards ... it does the job superbly. It does what it says on the cover 'practical drug therapy'.Those in their clinical years of medical school and perhaps house-officers would find this a useful companion. GKT Gazette A concise guide on the pharmacology of drugs and their most common and appropriate usesThis book is appropriately clinically orientated and satisfactorily examines various clinical outcome of drug therapyIt is an excellent reference guide for medical students and junior doctors, I wholeheartedly recommend it. 5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pocket source to useful drugs information, June 5, 2011

This review is from: Oxford Handbook of Practical Drug Therapy (Oxford Handbooks) (Paperback)
I must said it's a great reference. Even with the several aplication for the Iphone I use constantly on my practice everyday, I still find this pocket book been very useful, specially when dealing with drugs you don't use frecuently.

It's not a replace book for a good farmacological book, but a remainder for a daily practice, as it contain information such as physiological effects, drug class wih the rest of the family, doses, common uses, restrictions, etc.

I would say a little steep on the price, but it well worth it.
